If Arsenal continue this baffling spending spree ,while not being able to offload their surplus players , they would have the quantity for both however quality is another matter entirely .
I see Spurs are taking this Europa Conference thing really seriously And this is the problem with this new tournament, they are going to be some clubs from the bigger leagues that just don't want to be there.
I get what your saying but some clubs in europe, quite rightly imho will take it seriously I see it as a sherpa van/ldv trophy type affair
for PL clubs it is extra games for incredibly small financial returns and until the late stages would expect very few first team squad members to feature unless they use it for fitness training .
Yes but those trophies omit the higher teams on purpose. Raises the question that if a league has 4 teams qualifying for the CL do they need a EC slot? Seems to me that clubs like Spurs are in this new tournament to validate its existence and not to patronise the clubs that qualify from lesser leagues.
I thought it was meant for the teams of lower leagues who routinely get spanked in the other competitions. I don't know what a team like Spuds are doing in it.
They won the chance by finishing 7th They can get a backdoor into the EL playoffs if they win it so should go for it really.
Yeah, I know how they qualified, I just don't understand why. I thought it was designed to give a chance of a run in Europe to teams of lower leagues who just get blown away when they stick their heads above the parapet. If a team like Spurs take it seriously they should walk through it - if they can't be arsed (like tonight) then they'll go straight out again. Surely either way they're denying a place to a team that would benefit more?

They need a few **** clubs from big leagues to sell the tv rights. I mean who the hell wants to watch spurs c team play "someone" from "somehwere" that we are likely never to hear tell of again? It is some come down from being founding member of the esl.
no? Not when we are talking about the disaster of finishing 7th last season and being happy with 2 games or so to go that we couldn't end up there. I recall saying i'd rather 8th than end up 7th. thankfully the prem is **** and we got 3rd when leicester imploded (as i predicted) and chelsea decided that the CL was more important.
Can we all take a moment to look at Arsenal's spending this summer - they've spent over £100m but somehow have managed to not strengthen the team. Ramsdale, Ben White, Odegaard ... That is remarkable work.
I'd turn it on its head and say if a side had 6 slots and is such a good league why not give all 6 to the CL. Or dare i say it 1st to 5th to CL and the FA cup winners to a cup winners cup. the league cup should not have a European slot. In the end the europa league has a bit of money to it and it really is just england that treats it shabbily.
