I suspect you might find that some of those charlatans are still under contract and one or two more might be on the move on or before September 2nd.
LJ's been gone best part of 18 months.....most squads have pretty much changed, especially with change of manager of which we've done twice!! .....nothing different here. don't know why you're making such a big deal from it....the ones that are still here are IMO pretty decent and it was always the case we needed to strengthen in certain areas.
I make so much of it because the problem since 2019 has been the squad, too many of them were serially poor they got LJ sacked, they got Holden sacked and Pearson had to prove to SL how poor some of them were because he was in dreamland about how good he thought our squad was. And more importantly at least unlike with LJ the academy kids are at last being given a chance. As an aside I see last night Ipswich fans were asking 'who signed these players?' and City fans en masse were telling them "we did warn you", oh dear what a shame never mind.
I would agree that he has never looked particular happy since he joined. But is that because he’s on his 3rd manager and nine of them have seen him as 1st choice this far, or did he not want to come here and that’s affected his efforts? I guess we will never know. If he went we absolutely have to replace him, we cannot go with Martin, Bell and possibly Weimann as our strike force for the season
The main core of the players that I felt were decent are still here...and with better players around them, will only improve..
Well that's your opinion not one held by many, I can't think of any players already gone this summer that would be better with better players around them. The good news is the kids are getting a chance for a change.
Jiffie I don't know if Kalas is happy or not, all I've said is I haven't read anything to support your rumours. I've just seen the after match scenes on YouTube, I thought the squad genuinely looked a really 'together bunch'. I hope your rumours are wrong.
Well, this comment (probably unintentionally) underlines and emphasises my thoughts on the LJ era exactly! LJ has never been anywhere near Ipswich, so even the most hardned LJ-hater would find it difficult to pin that one on him!!! LJ made our 'poor' signings into a top table Championship side, in a shout of the playoffs until about 3 games from the end of the season when he got sacked for failing to make the top 6 with them. Now we have set our expectations to be content just not to be in the BOTTOM 6 with them!!! How one wants to remember that time is up to the individual: Either LJ had a GOOD side and underachieved with them or LJ had a POOR squad and OVER- achieved with them Having both a poor side and underachieving with them doesn't equate to ending up a top half Championship side
I have a bit of fun with the luvies about LJ, I don't hate LJ , never have but I disliked his football style, never liked him and always thought him a bit of a creep, he has been gone quite a while now but still infests our conversations on this board, I was relieved when he was sacked and do blame him for his major contribution of the mess we have been in, especially with the financial support and complete loyalty the owner gave him and the fact he only progressed us 5 places upwards in 4.5 years, he failed. I couldn't give a bugger about Ipswich, they've now got to suffer king rat and his rotten pack, Sunderland are now following the trail where Oldham, Barnsley, Bristol City have travelled and history seems to be replicated at all of the clubs, honestly LJ has departed, long gone and I couldn't care less, I wish him no harm but as far as I'm concerned good riddance and I am happy to be a Bristol City fan.
LJs finishes, with backing, are one thing. The squad he left City with is another thing. Pay your money, take your choice.
I think THE problem was Massengo running past Moore in the first place, solely due to his inexperience. He needed to stay goal side, he has to slow down and add composure to his game. He has the engine, he's bulking up and needs I think a calming influence. Pearson might be the right man for that. I hope so anyway.
But you have also said you would have kept some of them as well, cake and eat it again?. But at least youth is getting a chance for a change.
Not on this thread I didn't.... How's that useless Weimann you kept on and on about? His misses that cost us the Boro game and how he lacked composure, sounded like you wanted to drop him to me And here comes the midfield spill ......I'm not keen on fruit cake
Because it's true, of course I am sure you can tell us the last time Weimann played well in midfield. It sounded like I wanted to play him in his best position. But I expect you would put him back into midfield. PS:- He never missed against Boro that was Palmer.
