The other obvious point that nobody seems to have mentioned is that if Kane thought that he was still on holiday, then why didn't he say anything? He could easily have put out a statement on social media on the first day saying exactly that. He didn't.
The bloke is a complete moron tbf. His camp have briefed the Telegraph that HE is angry cos we won't sell him for whatever City deem acceptable. And they think that this type of briefing makes him look better
Yeah I said similar. Why wait around 5 days to release your statement (and a pretty poor one at that)? He’s being advised so badly and it’s why rumours that Charlie is taking a back seat have now arisen, though he’s still adult enough to know the stuff he’s pulling isn’t going down well. If he’d just turned up to training as normal and got on with things, there isn’t a single Spurs fan who’d begrudge him a move nor have any animosity towards him, he’s earned the right to play at the top but these antics are tarnishing the work he’s built over the last 7 years.
I don’t think he did. I think he was rushed back from injury as per and struggled because of it. No doubting there’d been talk beforehand but I don’t think his form was down to that.
Apparently Lautaro Martinez is close to agreeing a new deal at Inter. (Not really news, but seeing as there’s no actual news the same **** is being reworded day after day). I’ve said before that I think they’ll end up selling him. Just too much money to turn down. however, if both him and Vlahovic start looking like they could be no-go’s, surely we can’t sell Kane? interesting couple of weeks for Paratici to earn his money. Right now, it’s been quite underwhelming. I’m surprised there’s not been more noise so far this week, and it’s disappointing that time is ticking and we’ve still got so much to do.
You can argue the toss about whether Kane tried or not in his last 5 games of last season the question is why allow the interview with Neville to appear in public before the season was over. He could have complained about it being released,.................he didn't. From that point on as a fan of Spurs you have to question his commitment to the team. His commitment to himself was clear and it prompts the question of why did Kane always seem to return from injury too early. He was undroppable it seems, and maybe this led to him inflating his own importance in his own mind. Again whatever the reason Kane put himself first. Is that reasonable when you are part of a team? I don't think so, he has been made a millionaire by Tottenham and he has a duty to work for the team first and foremost. He has let Spurs down with his premature announcement of wanting away and personally I don't want to see him in a Spurs shirt again. I fear I won't get my wish and he will spread his infection throughout the team.
Yeah we won’t sell if we haven’t got a replacement either already in or ready to go. Levy knows he can’t do a Berba-Fraizer Campbell thing this time around.
Providing the structure of the deal had a lot of it up front I think Spurs will accept it. Though I see and agree with that Lockstock is saying in that it’s probably not enough to cover the loss of someone like Kane. He guarantees us a solid 25+ goals a season and based on last season a good amount of assists too, a replacement (or two) can’t really give us that guarantee and so it’s why, despite his antics, I’d personally reject any offer if I were in Levy’s shoes. I think losing Kane will be one of the toughest things this club will have to face for the immediate short to medium term, much tougher than when we lost Bale.
Don't disagree with this but he needs to go. His behaviour has been disgraceful. If he stays this will simply happen next January/summer/January/summer until he goes. As far as I am concerned, the soon he goes the better. Never wany to see him in a spurs shirt again tbh. And hopefully City will **** off to the ESL as well so they, PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid can stop polluting our football.
I don’t think it’s so much about up front, as nearly every transfer fee these days is paid in instalments over the length of the initial contract. I think it’s more the balance between the fee and the add-ons (based on appearances, trophies won etc.) I still think he stays. Less than 2 weeks to go to the close of the window and Levy’s position is stronger than it’s ever been. Kane will knuckle down and while I don’t think his relationship with the fans will be what it was, I’d still go mental if he knocked the winner in against Arsenal.
All I'm saying is that it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Levy rejected it. If I'm him, I would right now. It would be silly not to without a replacement. I'd be more surprise if he accepted.
They'll still pollute it, as they'll have far more money than everyone else and poach the top players. I'm getting increasingly convinced that the sport's finished, to be honest. We allowed too many crooks into the game and they've killed it.
I don’t hate/ dislike Kane as much as you and some others. Yes he’s been a cock but he’ll still knuckle down and score plenty of goals if he stays. My priority is always about seeing Spurs do well and without Kane our chances of doing so dramatically decrease.
Yeah same. Let’s be honest, if Kane stays, bangs in another 25+ goals again, the fans will be singing his name like usual. It’s the fickleness but also the nature of how football goes.
Absolutely. Don’t get me wrong though I think the relationship has changed. He’s gone from one of our own, a club man, to just another footballer at the club. The fact he’s exceptional is by the by. Kane was a homegrown symbol of our renaissance under Poch and has been one of the few shining lights during our regression in the last few years. Now he’s just another mercenary passing through, no matter how good he is. I’d cheer him if he performs but wouldn’t want to sing the ‘one of our own’ chant anymore. That belongs to Skippy and Japhet now.
Speaking of which, this is the first peep we’ve had of him on social media since the statement. He’s also been conspicuously absent from all the club’s training photos and montage footage ahead of the new season, which I think is telling.
