Looking at the RTG vid, he was offside then moved back and a Burton player was ahead of him when the ball was played. What was the name of the linesman, need to watch out for him in the future.
We only play 1 up front and we currently have 4 strikers on the books. Yes, Grigg might be away but I just don't see another striker coming in
But if we have a player to partner Stewart we could go very traditional and play 4 4 2. Then you would probably have 4 strikers (excluding Grigg)!
Very few teams play 4-4-2 these days and Johnson certainly doesn't. That system wouldn't with Embleton/Pritchard in a 10
Despite it not being the result we want I'm still massively encouraged by the performance. We've created several good goalscoring chances and through a mix of inspired goalkeeping and poor finishing haven't managed to take a couple of them. Some of the play in that first half, like the move that lead to Mcgeady flashing one just wide of the far post was quality football. Produce that most weeks and we'll win our fair share of games. As for Burton, they were incredibly resolute and they defended well while still posing a real threat on the counter attack. Whichever way you look at it though they've won the game from their only shot on target. From what I gather they had some fortune in taking three points off Ipswich on Saturday as well.
Good post mate...sums it up. Last season we were constantly bemoaning the lack of creativity, which has certainly been addtressed and we can't complain about it now. Last night was unlucky for us,one of those matches, every team has them. I'm encouraged by our attacking play, the goals will come if we keep on it.
You're comparing apples and oranges, given the remainder of the side is pretty much different to what we had last season also.
How do you know he was ready? It's this constant negative mindset of some supporters that does my head in. Instead of enjoying a young boy doing well 'he should have been playing earlier '. Same with embleton. People are just going to harp back to 'it was a mistake sending him out on loan' Its the same folk who were calling for Hawkes and Younger playing last season when its obvious they arent ready. And I completely disagree with your comment about Patterson. He has looked anything but ready in the games I've seen of him. I'm all for giving kids a chance but at the right time. Neil and Embleton are definitely ready now so you could say that we have acted responsibly with their development.
How do you mean mate? The only 2 different players in the side last night was Cirkin and Doyle. The rest were all Sunderland players last season?
Harping back to last season doesn't achieve anything tbh. A new season has started, good players brought in and the window is still open. Going back to 'Jones should've started every game' or 'Wyke should've been dropped' is just pissing in the wind ... ... there's a home match on Saturday that interests me a lot more tbh.
You cant say anything on here against the grain now without being shot down by posters. Its beginning to do my head in abit now.
Looking back is something all football supporters do, and we all see things differently, no harm done.
