Edinburgh Castle: Protesters who refuse to pay entry claim to 'seize' Capital historic site | Edinburgh News

Police are close to the entrance to the Museum of The Royal Regiment for Scotland as a group of protesters gather, claiming that they hope to ‘free Scotland’ from ‘corrupt powers.’

The individuals claim that they are ‘seizing’ the castle ‘lawfully and peacefully’ to ‘free the people of Scotland from corrupt powers.’

In a video, a protester claims: “Edinburgh Castle belongs to the people of Scotland.

"High treason has been committed.

"We are using article 61 of the Magna Carta. We have had enough. The people of Scotland have had enough and today we claim our power back.”

 

What's Magna Carta got to do with Scotland?

 

Nothing. It predates the union.

That's Scottish nationalists for you. Thickest people on the planet.

 

Magna Carta is a British document. People from all parts of the British Isles came to Runnymede to advise King John and approve the document. Magna Carta contains important chapters that deal with the grievances of Welsh rulers and the King of Scotland.

Didn't the Magna Carta only apply to the Barons?

 

There is no 'the'.

I'm no expert, and most of what I know was through arguing with someone that was burbling about the 'freeman of the land' ****e, but as I understand it, it was pushed (and probably written) by the Barons to limit the power of the Crown, but in turn granted some rights to ordinary folk too.

The Article 61 these folk like to mention, was removed and never became law anyway.

Woman arrested after £32k charity fund raised by Bristol BLM goes missing

When asked to comment on the whereabouts of the money, the Bristol BLM group, who renamed to All Black Lives Bristol called the incident “unfortunate” and explained that it was a “sensitive case involving mental health issues”.

“The situation is sad and upsetting, but one we hope the community can come together to support one another through. We will not be adding anything further given the personal nature of the matter,” they added.
