he got a slight touch to it at most and then took out the attacker . Noticeable that Murphy didn't argue with the decision and the main thrust of Newcastle defenders complaints were for offside .

It might have been given, but it shouldn't have been - like Brentford's second should have been disallowed.
VAR might be taking a back seat more, but bad decisions are still being made, we're just not having them shown to us.
It doesn't surprise me because I've maintained all along that I think the whole process is a waste of time and resources.
Until the game is run and played by robots, human subjectivity will always be an element in it, and imo it's futile trying to eliminate that.
We can't even agree on here about the Brentford goal.

I saw no marked increase in correct decisions with heavy touch VAR so i'm happy to have this lighter touch where only clear & obvious errors are changed . How long it stays like this is anyones guess though .

i agree, it’s better this way but as we can see, it will never please everyone all of the time. If we can get to what it was used like at the Euros consistently, it would be good imo.

IMO you saw a really bad decision only rarely.

the milner offside one for example. 3 yards off and that was 3 years ago.

we were seeing guys drawing lines that mean nothing and guessing to rule in or out goals as they want to and seeing a guy pointing where he wants it and having the goal chalked off. We just need to get real on that stuff imo with VAR.

We just don't want floppers getting pens and we don't want obvious errors being allowed to stand, thats all. let the rest go. marginal? ah well stick with the on field decision and move on.

Give the managers one review a game if they whine.

It shouldn't even be used for offside, imo. Football has become obsessed with the details whilst losing sight of the big picture.
What significant advantage is gained if you're a couple of inches off 25 yards from goal? Especially as you can be played on by a defender 40 yards away across the width of the pitch who hasn't any chance of preventing you from bearing down on goal.
The offside rule was introduced to prevent goal-hanging - not to punish people for having a big nose. If you're not far enough off for a lino to see it then why does it even matter?

yup. it doesn't need lines. It just needs to spot the horrendous error by a lino.

they made it do bad the defnesive side just needed to be good at stepping out and then let it happen. the attackers were severely impeded.

He really needs to learn his target audience. Levy will be loving that he can fine Kane two weeks wages each time he misses training :emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash:

The new use of VAR for offside sees the end of that though, as the lines are thicker and if they overlap then it’s being given as onside. So VAR will only get involved if the lino calls it wrong - like happened at Newcastle yesterday for West Ham’s first goal when the lino incorrectly called offside, which VAR corrected, or for when a clear and obvious offside has been missed.

but only when the ball is put in the net.

they should be quiet unless its blatantly obvious. the message from all has been clear imo nobody wants constant game stops like they were doing reviews for minutes on end.

even cricket has sped up with review system FFS (no ball is called prior to review and just called fair.

Did you watch the games this weekend like?

The difference was night and day, they’ve listened and made the sensible changes virtually everyone was calling for.

yeah mate, I'm just saying var only comes in if the ball hits the net. I'm still willing to bet they make an absolute howler when they get the chance to.

he only positive from the games i saw was falling over with any contact was not a pen any more. (salah, never ever a pen, not even appealed)

You didn’t think the treatment of offside was a massive improvement, together with the time taken to review? Really?
