I totally concur with that Ozzy. It was Charlie Wyke last season who got slated despite 30 odd goals, now he's gone attention has moved onto Burge, yes he's got an error in him but name me one player who hasn't. Some 'fan's just have to have a scapegoat and it's Burge in the firing line at present. Don't understand it, and his detractors have been asked many times to highlight these many mistakes and none have backed up their obsession for belly aching. Didn't Wyke say after the Lincoln loss in the playoffs that he couldn't wait to get out of this club and frankly who can blame him, is Burge next to have his confidence sapped by this constant whingeing about his ability.
100% agree. Whilst we have undoubtebly one of the best supporter groups in the land we also have a vocal minority who need a scapegoat. These same people don't seem to realise that all athletes improve with confidence as that's one of the reasons they got to the upper echelons of their chosen sport. How soul sapping must it be for a player who is judged the best keeper in league 1 last season to see anonymous ****ers online saying that they have no trust in him,. Some of our so called fans need to pull their heads out of their arses and start supporting rather than criticising. WE ARE NOT A PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM ANYMORE AND WE CAN"T THEREFORE ATTRACT PREMIER LEAGUE PLAYERS. Stop living in the past and appreciate the foundations that are being laid for the future.
100% this. He could play 10 blinding games in a row and knock one out for a throw in and he’d get grief. He’s nowhere near as bad as he’s made out, in fact he’s not bad at all, he’s a League One goalkeeper. Have to have a scapegoat though. Always. It will never change sadly.
I'm not making any comparison to ours but I must say, for this level Sheffield Wednesday's defence is superb. Hunt, Iorfa and Hutchinson with Gibson and Dunley in reserve. They're weak at left back mind.
Luongo is a midfielder though. Just thinking about the comments from others made regarding playing players (o'nien) out of position.
Spot on. Some people always have to have that one player to pick faults with. If Burge does leave it will be O'Brien next (who also isn't as bad as some people like to think)
I've read this article this morning on Sheff Wed. Even though they have a decent team out on the pitch, it's still not good behind the scenes apparently. Surely that could have a knock on effect with the players at times. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...b-lift-Sheffield-Wednesday-tier-football.html
For me, I would put the goal down more on Neil rather than Burge. He let the ball run past him and it got away from him then the player ran past him as if he wasn't there. Learning experience for him though and hopefully it won't happen again with him.
It's a weird one isn't it. I think they've recruited really well this summer but how on earth do you attract players to a club where the owner sometimes doesn't bother paying their wages?!
I'm sorry, but surely Burge isn't being blamed for the goal on Saturday is he? I'm not his biggest fan, but he can't be blamed for that. As for comments on Wyke, yes he scored a lot of goals, but the amount of balls he would give away / fouls on other players to break things down for us was outrageous. Aye, he scored a lot of goals, but he is truly hopeless. Hence why the Lochness Drogba has already bagged 2 and Big Charles hasn't scored a single goal for them in both pre-season and this season.
An alternative to Roscoe, even Geads, or able to play off Roscoe’s knock downs when we’re going at teams. Looks quality, both feet, fast & a grafter. What’s not to like
just to say I'm not sorry to see Wyke go cos other than his fantastic goals tally he brought little to the team but still couldn't understand the agro he got, were supposed to be supporters not nit picking every little mistake these players make. everyone is entitled to opinions on players but to go on like broken records is a bit pathetic in my view.
