There does not seem to be any relevance to this fact.

At some point in time, the United States was going to withdraw having lost a battle that it could never win (at the cost of thousands of lives), just like it was eventually forced to withdraw from Vietnam.

In the last couple of hundred years, foreign powers (frequently Britain) have been to Afghanistan under various excuses, have failed to create any sort of durable democratic regime and have withdrawn.

The place is ungovernable and many of the armed tribal chiefs back the Taliban, so it will return to being a barbaric Muslim state governed by Sharia law with women as possessions. If they had oil we would turn a blind eye but all they have to trade with us is their opium harvest.

If people in Afghanistan want regime change then they will have to fight for self determination and be prepared to die for it. If they want an historical example of this then they should look back about 250 years ago at the British colonials in the New World.
