People tend to forget how awesome his record is when assessing the “greatest ever” in an era when defenders could tackle and the game was far more unforgiving generally.
Just been reading some tweets from Laporta’s press conference at Barca. In short - they’re ****ed! Debt is over €1.3bn (yes, we have large debt too but Levy’s maintained it’s manageable). Negative net worth of over €450m. Salaries basically take up more than the club’s income (not sure if this included Messi’s or not prior to his departure, I don’t think it did!) Had to request an €80m loan to help pay salaries and cover construction work of the Nou Camp. No wonder they’re still one of the clubs pushing for the ESL.
please log in to view this image They're crying about their poor financial position while still signing players on massive wages and not selling anybody. If you're in such massive trouble, then have a clearout and accept that you're not going to be challenging for a season or two while you sort it out. It would cause an uproar with the fans and would set the club back, but that's a position you've put yourselves in. It's your fault. Fix it.
Like Real Madrid, their problem is that they spent it over the last few years. It’s no surprise Florentino Perez was the main driver of the ESL when his club is up **** cheek without a paddle.
Barca are trying to shed players and wages despite paradoxically adding new ones on (presumably) big money. No idea how Real are doing it, considering they have Bale fully back on their books, Hazard barely playing, have just renewed Courtois’s contract and reportedly are looking to do the same for Benzema. I know they lost Ramos and Varane but it’s a drop in the water comparatively, I assume Alaba isn’t on peanuts.
Also Spurs beating the current champions but at the back of the winning pack? Guessing that’s to do with ‘only’ winning 1-0?
It is only a cartoon, wouldn't worry. It does seem to be in GD order, all the same. I enjoy Nuno giving Pep a kick in the guts.
