Can’t agree mate. Almost everything he posts is either second hand or speculation. If he gets anything that’s right, he’s not in the first loop, he’s merely confirming.

Like I say in the post above - if it’s a tweet initiated by him with specifics in it, it’s usually on the money (even if it’s second hand). It’s the ones where he replies to people that can be ignored in general

if the club can 'come to some agreement' with grigg and get someone similar to SKP in place i will be happy, i think as it stands we have a strong 1st team and can now get a decent bench out.

by 'similar to SKP' i dont mean 30 goals a season (but i would not refuse as long as the fecker enjoyed it) but that type of player, reading the knock ons and able to pull a goal from nothing.
I'd have an 'old head' striker in there, one who can cause a bit havoc in the box but knows where the net is. Martyn Waghorn or Billy Sharp type of strong, no nonsense type of player. just my opinion.

Dane Scarlett on loan from Spurs would be my dream signing if I could chose anyone realistic for the number 9.

he’s on the bench today but once Kane has gone you imagine Spurs will bring 2 strikers in

You may believe that but I don't agree that it's level headed.

Rather than answer your points tit for tat I'll pose a question. You seem to be basing your POV on the fact that people may never have seen these signings 'play a single minute of football'. That's fair enough but, of all the other L1 defenders, how many minutes have you seen them play, how many do you actually remember and how many do you believe will ever play in the PL?

Doyle will for certain, Alves is odds on and Spurs feel so sure Cirkin will move on to a higher level that they seem to want a buyback/sell on scenario. Mourinho is a decent judge of a defender and he singled him out for high praise after seeing him play.

So I don't believe, from a level headed POV, that the comment by @Teessidemackem is gullible and biased as you claim.

So if this defence isn't the best in L1 which, in your unbiased opinion, is.

I don't think I said gullible, just biased... But I think what you've said is the point I was trying to make, really. I haven't seen every defence in this league play (neither has anyone on this forum, I'd wager), so I don't think it's possible for me to say which is the best in the league after a total of 3 hours of football have been played... (or 90 minutes at time of the original post)

I've got no idea who it is but he definitely said a lad from Everton. I didn't realise Simms was still there but if its him it'll be class
I am choosing to believe it is him mate, only because it puts a smile on my face on a Sunday night. Plus there has been nothing in the media so it must be true.

Thanks for sharing what you were told as well.

When did i call YOU stupid? I said you should change your name to David Moyes stupid COMMENT not PERSON..

Im not sure how much of a fan you are but if youve been watching our pre-season friendlies youd realise that Doyle has had more than one good game for us and the way he handled Wigans attack last Saturday showed how much of a key player he's going to be for us not only defensively but also his ability to play it out from the back. He looks head and Shoulders above League 1 standard in every way. Hes also physically capable as was saw last week when he came up against Wyke.

Have you read Cirkins interview when he signed? If you have then you'll already know the reason why he chose to turn down a new deal with Spurs and come to us. Spurs wanted to keep him. They rated him that much he trained with their first team so why are you being so negative and saying he'd still be a Spurs player now if they really wanted him?

If youd have read the interview from Alves youd also realise he's not a young academy prospect of West Hams, so im not sure why your bringing Noble and Hume into this? They signed him for 1.4m after playing first team football in the Danish league. He's been very impressive for them this pre-season so to get him up here and adding him to the defence with the other 2 is pretty exciting imo.

The fans have every right to be excited over these signings so stop coming on here and accusing people of being biased? Its abit of a sh#t thing to do really especially when its obvious you havent even done your homework on any of these players before trying to shoot them down.

I kinda think if you say "that's a stupid thing to say", the implication is that the person who said it is stupid, but that's by the by, ha.

Fair point on Doyle, I hadn't really thought about (or seen) any of the pre-season matches so some on here are no doubt more qualified to comment on him :emoticon-0148-yes:. I think the point with Cirkin is that if they really wanted him, they could have offered him £100k per week. I'm sure they wanted to keep him on to see how he developed, but that probably goes for most of their youth players, it's not like he was pencilled in as a first-team player this season otherwise he'd still be there...

I agree Alves is a potentially exciting signing (so are Cirkin and Doyle, for what it's worth) but his experience is mainly in Danish League 2 which is probably a level below League One.

But it all comes back to the fact none of us have really seen much of them play, and certainly haven't seen much of all the other defences in the league, so I just find it a bit funny to claim they'll be the best defensive unit in the league, bar none, at this stage. It's impossible to say right now, imo.

Anyways, it was a good debate but my first comment was just meant to be a throwaway observation so I don't want it to turn into a long drawn-out thing haha.

For the record, I hope you're right :emoticon-0150-hands

I think we were linked with a young lad from Everton early in the window, they were in USA then he got injured?
