I joined Twitter for no more than 48hrs last week - I very quickly regretted it and deleted the app , drama queens springs to mind
100% agree. I'd rather us play attractive football but fall short, than carry on playing this hoofball up to Stockley and hope he can flick it on. It rarely works anyway and a slick passing team will always create more chances against that style of play. I don't believe it's Adkins usual style of football but he probably realises that we don't have the midfield to play through teams. We desperately need a Cullen/Reid/JFC/Stevens type player in our midfield. Clare, Dobson and I'm afraid Morgan are definitely not that player so we need to spend some money to get one (they don't come cheap) or get one on loan from a Prem club.
I don’t think we’re playing to Stockleys strengths. In a front three, DJ and Washington don’t get close enough to get the second ball. As a result it looks like hit and hope. If Stockley had a hard working strike partner it might look a bit better.
Agreed. I thought Stockley and Washington as a front two worked quite well towards the end of last season, but tbh I don't think Washingtons finishing (or Stockleys from his feet) are good enough to be our 20+ goal a season striker, which is what you need to get promoted. I said at the time that we signed Stockley that I thought it was a good signing, but that we also need to sign that 20+ goalscorer to work alongside him, but obviously that hasn't happened. I know they don't come cheap and every team wants one, but that's the nature of the beast I'm afraid.
Stockley's hold-up play on the deck is pretty good when he gets the chance. If you look at the recent debate on concussion that's another reason not to keep aiming for his head. I imagine we'll get 2 or 3 loans in soon. The big clubs hoover up all the kids with a bit of promise, and they'll be looking at the best place to send them to get some experience and see how they make ahrt.
having thought about it for a little while this is definitely a case of “pot calling the kettle “ especially after your recent absenteeism
I think the loans will make or break our season. We need a top class goalscorer and creative midfielder at the very least.
I hope that will be true, but I'm not at all convinced. He certainly needs more support up top to have a chance of doing that. So far it's taken just one game against Wednesday for teams to work out how to nullify Stockley - simply put two or three players on him every time he gets the ball and you snuff out our goal threat.
I think I'd rather see guitar sessions on the pitch than public executions And this is just a guess, but I think the women's team wouldn't be so well backed either. On balance I feel we should stay with the Dane...
