Alreet lads, nice to be back.

So with Messi joining PSG. It got me thinking, how come none of the ‘superstars’ ever come to the PL, especially in their prime?

I know this isn’t NUFC related but you’ve got Messi, Neymar, Haaland, Mbappe, Lewandowski etc.

Then you have players like Ronaldo, Bale etc who can’t wait to get away from the PL.

Is it a fear that players abroad have about the PL being tougher competition, is it just the **** weather? Or purely just down to money?

I genuinely do think some foreign superstars do struggle in the PL.. shevchenko, veron etc. Amazing abroad, ****e here. Even Havertz said it’s like it’s at 100mph all the time in this league.

Conclusion: too many players are pussies these days.

Not sure about the reasons but the conclusion seems fairly accurate.

One of my many gripes today is the fact so many footballers seem more than happy to play 8 or 9 games a season plus 12’ish sub appearances of 15 minutes and then claim to be

    a. Exhausted because it’s a long hard season

    b. Premier League title winners

Squad sizes should be reduced. The number of substitutes available should be reduced. The number of substitutions should be reduced. On a separate note a salary cap should be introduced as earnings are obscene and should be the same for all Clubs in that division. Could live with percentages of turnover and if exceeded then a point deduction. How the salary cap money is spent is up to each Club.

Very few global superstar clubs who can sign these players. In this country now, who you looking at? Man C, Man U, Chelsea.

With all due respect to Manchester it doesn't hold the lustre, temperature wise or culturally that a Paris, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona does. London can compete but then you factor in how physically demanding our league is compared to the others, our climate, and the media intrusion, its just not as appealing. Racing with Munich of course, but then Bayern have the reputation of guaranteed trophies both domestically and in Europe, guaranteed positive development.

Over the years we've had some of the very best .. Henry, aguerro, Bergkamp, giggs... People forget who's here

Players move around, things change and the likes of real and Barcelona have had their dynasty spending money they don't have.

    PSG, City are the future

We have but the true global superstars, the Messi, Ronaldo, fat Ronaldo, Stoichkov, Rivaldo, Kaka, Figo, Zidane, Shevchenko, Baggio, Van Basten, Gullit, Mattheus, Platini, Wear etc. These types at their peaks, when winning and competing for Ballon D'ors, they largely all have been playing at Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter, Bayern.

Its not complicated. The Ballon D'Or winners of the last 40 odd years, you've probably only had 5 winners from outside that bracket of club. Ronaldo (Man U), Owen (Liverpool). They quickly departed for Real Madrid too <laugh>

In all fairness, these cities are ****ing fantastic and have some great climate. They are fashion capitals, everything is bigger better and nicer to look at. Just the way the world is. Manchester pisses down constantly. What do people expect.

Spain has one and they retained the “big names”.

My other thoughts being I wouldn’t care if they did and UEFA should be pushing for it anyway.

I know people are critical of how corrupt the game is but I think you have to accept location is a pull for these clubs too. FIFA of course hinder that too. Loads of players have headed for these clubs simply to aid their chances of winning the Ballon D'Or. Of course many head there simply because there clubs traditionally have the players recognised as the best in the world. I love Messi and Ronaldo. Unbelievable footballers. I love attacking flare players. But are people seriously trying to suggest that N'Golo Kante has not been one of the three best players in the world at any time since 2016? To me its a load of horseshit the Ballon D'Or. You might aswell call it a forwards trophy. Like it or not though its viewed as important by the worlds best.

It would be lovely. Generally though it doesn't work like that and some billionnaire or rich sponsor helps them out the holes. After a bit of drama, the powers that be then fall over themselves to look after the ****ers. I suppose I'm mega cynical about things ever changing, but history is with me to be fair. Everytime these monster clubs look ****ed financially, they slip out the noose.

Messi would have needed to play well every single game here, at PSG he can walk most league games minimal effort.

Coming here is too hard and if they flop their brands flop
