Dudgeon was sayign to the BBC that the Tigers aim for a top 2 finish is this possible considering the teams around there, do the tigers have what it takes ? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15338980.stm
No we don't have the forwards to do it, I think we will make the play offs. More then happy to be proved wrong though
Agreed, I think if we carry on as we are we SHOULD have a chance of nicking one of the play-off spots. Top spot has gone already, that's West Ham's. If we were to conjur up a big Centre Forward to create the space and freedom for the likes of Fryatt or Waghorn to run into we could actually nick auto.
I see absolutely no reason we can't finish in the top 2. The leaue is pretty average, there's a few 'decent sides' but not one I would say is definitely better than us. The two could fall into that category are Southampton and West Ham but I haven't seen either of those live yet. We are one of the top sides in this league and the realists will have to come to terms with it soon. I'm not saying we should finish there or that we should be disappointed with the playoffs, but we absolutely can get automatic, we're as well equipped as anyone. Sign both the loanees in January, and if we can bring anyone else in that'll be a big bonus.
as we are now then Top 6 Yes. But as the Brighton game showed City are still lacking another top notch goal scorer. Someone who can turn a 0-0 into a 1-0 win. If that issue is addressed in Jan then Top2 yes. As for top spot who knows. NOBODY has stood out yet for that right so its up for grabs, IMO but which team will reach out and grab it. Thats the question.
I feel we are very close to being a top team, just need to get the scoring sorted, and then we will have a good chance to challenge for a top 2 spot.
This striker thing has been mooted a lot, but how many teams have this elusive brilliant striker? Hardly any. We are lucky to have 3 'good' strikers even if none of them are 'excellent'. If one becomes available then fine, but I just don't think PL strikers are available to championship teams, so we have to make do with championship players like Fryatt, Waghorn and McLean.
ideal result for this game would be a DRAW. along with Middlesboro either losing or drawing @ Forest and Derby the same @ Reading. brighton are @ millwall so the same there as well. job done and City then have a game in hand. i Fear that TWS WILL BEAT Coventry @ home tonight. grrrrrr
You never know Leeds might slip up, i think it would of been ideal to play Birmingham this Wednesday considering our form but never mind we will just have to beat them in December instead lol
There's no point whatsoever worrying about the league table for another 4 months or so. We just need to keep picking up decent results and the rest will take care of itself. As for aiming for the top 2, that's sensible. If you miss out, you have the fallback of the play-offs. Aim for 6th and miss and you're nowhere.
oh i quite agree on the table issue But its good fun even at this early stage. you cannot read anything into the league table until after the xmas/new year fixtures have been played and everybody has played everybody at least once, by jan 3rd Hull City will have played both fixtures against Derby County and Burnley. Then you can look at the table and take a more serious view of it. Your either a promotion contender or battling the drop. So far most teams are just posturing.
I dont think any team pushing for promotion will be aiming for the top 6, all the top teams want to go up automatically surely!
