Likely to be a tougher test than PNE, but we should have enough to get something from the game. Wilk's looked off it last week and a bit undercooked fitness-wise, so this injury is a bit of a blow, as it will take him a little while to get back up to speed. I would play Longman in his place, if he is fit enough, as he looked good in the pre-season games. I've seen on Twitter a few saying we should try Emmanuel there, but I seem to remember last season one game we tried that and it didn't work. Good to hear Elder is back in the mix, and I would guess Moncur, who's started well, will continue with Docherty and Smallwood in midfield. Would take a draw, but hope for the win.
Agree, Emmanuel isn't an attacking option in that position. Longmam deserves his chance. Williams too if fit. Good squad competition, so if Wilks doesn't step up, his position is under threat. Wasn't the case last season... Fortunately it didn't matter.
interesting to see who replaces Wilks then, never seen either play so cant really offer an opinion on it.
Longman certainly impressed in his outings in pre-season, I would guess he might start with him and bring Randell on later, as both have been out with Covid. Though Grant said in his pre-match interview that 2 had had symptoms and 2 had not, so the 2 that didn't might be the fittest of the 4. But we don't know which is which.
QPR under John Gregory were the purveyors of anti football. Niggling. Getting in the refs earhole whenever possible. Feigning injury at every opportunity. Time wasting from min 1 to 90. They knew all the tricks. At least under Colin they played decent, attractive football.
Although Wilks was way off the speed last week its a blow without doubt as it upsets the balance and understanding of the team .. having said that I doubt his team mates understand 99% of his decision making ! Chance for someone to step up and shine .. hard fought 2-1 win for me.
This will be a tough game and being our first home game of the season we'll need the vocal support to be heard. Get behind these lads and they'll get us results...2-1 UTT!!!
