The Ward-Prowse rumours are gathering pace although it might be an agent ploy to drive Villa's bid up. Bit of a strange one as aside from his set piece ability, nothing about his game strikes me as a drastic improvement on what we already have. Just signed a new contract, plus HG tax plus "I put on an Ingerland shirt VAT" means i can't see him going for less than £40m. Not worth it imo. In any event, almost every ITK is saying we've now hit an impasse of needing to shift players out if we are going to bring more in. While there is some relief in that it implies Kane is staying or we'd probably be splurging serious penny right about now, it is also somewhat depressing that Sissoko, Aurier, Winks, Dier, Sanchez, Dele and Ndombele are STILL spurs players.
Wouldn't have expected all of them to be sold but to still have them all is disappointing. I expect Dele and Ndombele to still be here but thought Aurier, Sanchez and Sissoko would definitely be gone by now and either winks or dier would go on the final day or so. Gonna be a long season with all of them here.
It's worrying that our business thus far has been familiarly symmetrical - 1 in / 1 out... Toby / Romero Hart / Gollini Coco / Gil This new DoF had better be a ****ing wizard, if he's going to have to make Sissoko, Aurier, Winks, Dier, Sanchez, Dele and Ndombele disappear, before he can replace any of them.
I think JWP is an improvement on Winks around the park and also brings the set piece ability. I’d be more than happy to take him and move Winks or Sissoko on if we thinking 1 out, 1 in.
Everton and Villa both want winks. Thought Sissoko have gone to a Saudi club. Thought ajax plus an Italian club have been interested in Sanchez and there was talk of Aurier going back to France (although that is very unlikely now that PSG have got Messi, and have to ditch a shed load of players to balance the books)... and I was hoping some crazy bastard at Roma would have come in for Dier As for prices I kind of hope the realism we have shown with prices for Hart, Alderweireld, Cirkin and Lamela means we understand the value in getting rid of unwanted players in order to strengthen the first team and the squad.
Like RCL said above, I think the club are well aware they will have to accept low offers to get rid of Winks, Sissoko, Aurier etc. As it stands I don’t think has bid for any of them have they?
I think he is the one player other teams might be interested in (from the list you all seem to want to go), he's a very steady consistent player who would do well in a lot of teams.
Unfortunately, at Juve, our DoF had more ability in recruiting players than moving on those surplus to the club's needs. That's not great news, given that Levy refused to fund a replacement for Victor Wanyama for 2 seasons, even though the bloke could hardly run, let alone play top level football. If the possibility of bringing in realistic replacements means that we're going to have to sell a load of seriously overrated, overpaid, underachievers in the most depressed transfer market in memory, we'd have been better off spending Paratici's salary on tickets for the Euro Millions Lottery.
Sanchez is the one who I thought we would have multiple bids for. Whilst he’s prone to a brain fart in the Premier League I think he’d look a lot, lot better elsewhere in Europe. Still quite young, great speed for a CB, doesn’t get many injuries, I’d have thought we’d have had a concrete offer by now. I think it’s a weird market though, most teams want to sell their unwanted players yet don’t want to buy too many of their targets, instead preferring loans with options/ obligations, which is what we’ve done with Romero and Gollini but not all clubs will be open to those.
Numo seems like a new broom then. But the question- as always with Spurs- is who to buy? You’re not competing for the big money buys but the diamonds in the rough. Is Nuno just going to bring in a load of Portuguese players like some Wolves 2.0 or is there a master plan?
Hes basically a **** tom cleverly. However theres always some English team who like to get mugged off. We just have to hope winksy wants to stay
Correct. It's very much a desperate, sellers market this season with the sole exception of your lot, City, United and PSG. Most windows need the 'trickle down economics' from the 15-20 really big clubs to get things going. You need all of them spending decent money across Europe which in turn allows smaller clubs to (albeit reluctantly) allow their best and brightest to move onwards and upwards and then replace them with cheaper options. Similar to the ripple effect between us, Atalanta and Juve or City-Villa-Norwich but on a much larger scale and with so many more of those 'transfer triangles' happening to fuel the whole market. At the moment it resembles trying to buy a house but waiting ages for the chain to click into place and knowing it probably won't. Players like Aurier, Sissoko, Dele, Winks etc. are a massive gamble and right now there isn't enough liquid capital out there to make that gamble seem worthwhile.
Tomiyasu Watch Calcio Mercato claim that the most likely scenario is a loan with an obligation to buy given the difference of opinion about payments, with Bologna wanting the fee upfront for a small-scale rebuild while we want to spread the payment out The obvious point after that is who is willing to have us bin off Aurier in their direction?
