With the teachers handing out ‘A’ and ‘A*’ grades like confetti, the institution that got the most students into Oxbridge this year was actually a state school not Eton or one of the rich private schools.

In normal years before, when students had to sit an exam to get an ‘A’ grade, parents paying for the best teachers in the best schools got the best results. With the state comprehensives overrun with lefties, monkeyhangers drive their kids halfway across the city to the best state schools when they find that the one at the end of their street has low attainment. Amazing how many monkeyhangers suddenly discover their Catholicism when the best local schools turn out to be RC.

In many subjects half the curriculum did not get covered this year. If you made this year’s A-Level Physics students sit the exam paper from 40 years ago most of them would fail as half the material is no longer on the syllabus with everything continuing to be dumbed down to make everyone successful.

The exam system is now just a Ponzi scheme. There is no way that two years of disruption have produced double the A grades. The students who should have got A grades have been demeaned by wholesale grade inflation for those who should not.
