Good Morning. It's Wednesday 11th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Bielsa spotted at the Etihad!

Marcelo Bielsa was spotted at the Etihad Stadium yesterday by an eye eyed Leeds fan, prompting confusion what the Argentine was doing there?

Whites fan and football journalist Tom Horner managed to get his mobile out in time to capture the Leeds supremo, along with a gentleman in a suit entering the League Champions domain!

We know he and Citeh boss Pep Guardiola are great friends, but surely, they are not going to meet up for a bite to eat days before the season starts!

Venezuelan midfielder Yangel Herrera has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road this Summer, but that still does not explain the face to face meeting; in any case, 90 percent of transfer dealings would be undertaken by Victor Orta!

Deal to bring town midfielder to ER 'not a million miles apart'

Chief football writer for the Yorkshire Evening Post Graham Symth took to his twitter account yesterday to confirm that talks between Huddersfield Town and Leeds regarding Lewis O'Brien were not 'a million miles apart'!

According to Symth: “He’s a player Leeds actually like, one they’ve expressed genuine interest in and, all things considered, one for whom a deal should be achievable in every sense for a Premier League club like Leeds, even if the initial discussions between the two clubs failed to yield any kind of progression.

“While nothing is imminent or even on-going – all was quiet as the week began – The Yorkshire Evening Post understands the two parties were not a million miles apart in their valuation.”

Premier League zero tolerance on fans

The Premier League have announced new anti-discrimination measures against all forms of discrimination!

All Premier League clubs have agreed to implement including bans for any individual found to have behaved in a discriminatory or abusive way towards any club employee, player, match official, matchday steward or fellow fan, whether it be on the terraces or on social media!

Clubs will work closely with stewards and Police forces to identify those committing offences! For instances of online abuse, the Premier League will investigate each reported incident through its online discriminatory abuse reporting system, which was launched in June 2020.

Legal action may be taken against those caught abusing officials, staff, players or their families! Stewards are undergoing enhanced training to equip them in dealing with the matter!

Players will continue to take the knee. though it is not known what will happen if fans decide to express their feelings by booing!

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

I mentioned the Bielsa Man City sighting yesterday and the best explanation came from Jammy I think, when he said it could be Bielsa wanting to visit their facilities to check out something he wants to do at TA. Either in coaching or medical. Feasible for me unless Orta was already inside and they were discussing another loan?

I have a real problem with the latest dictat from the Prem League, where they will stamp down on all forms of discrimination/abuse. They make themselves sound like woke corporate businesses who want to be seen as virtuous, be it for trans rights, racism etc. The problem is that hundreds of real football fans are going to be victims of wrong identity because a lot of this new ruling is about being nice to stewards. I know plenty of stewards who are prats and now with this new power they will turn into Hitler. Many already overstep their power but now they will get rid of any fans they dont like. I hope they live to regret their stupidity because the sound of boos will outdo any applause when taking the knee

    Morning all,

I see the scalpers are selling tickets for the Everton game for about £170 on the Internet. The club should buy these tickets and then ban all the memberships associated with these tickets.

Rangers out of the champions league. Do you think Kent will be up for a move now? Would you take him? Should we send Costa the other way as part of the deal?

The end of a transfer window wouldn't be complete without Kent popping up until deadline day, like everyone I have no idea who will sign (if anyone at all).

Anyone watched this Richard McCann fella from Huddersfield? is he any good?

    Morning all.

Perhaps the fact we only have 3 PL games before the 12th September is influencing our transfer activity but similar to last season I'm hoping for at least one more quality addition before the transfer window closes.

The 3 games in question are Scum (a) Everton (h) & Burnley (a) which I think represents a fairly even set of fixtures for August. Maybe it would have been nice to have had 2 home fixtures but with us requesting an away opening fixture due to the ER pitch being relaid that was unlikely. To be honest I'd take 4 points from those fixtures right now...in fact I'd snap your hand off if they were offered. Getting off to a solid start is absolutely vital because as we saw last season it allows the players and fans to relax a little and just enjoy the games.

Truth is we never know whats going to happen results wise as shown by winning at the Etihad but then losing twice against Brighton,West Ham & Wolves. What we do know though is that it's the games against the lesser teams that are so important, win those and same as last season we'll be fine.

Also the game against Everton will be the first game I've attended with VAR in operation...it's not something I'm expecting to enjoy as it's the spontanious celebration of goals that's so much of the match day experience. We'll see how it goes but my gut feeling is it just won't be the same. Maybe if it's the Toffees who have a goal chalked off first I might feel differently.

To balance that out though it will be my son's first ever PL match and with the fans back it promises to be quite the occasion.

Wasn't me Doc but it does sound feasable.

Have just read that the matchday stewards will be undergoing extra training to implement the new enhanced discrimination measures. Let's see how it goes before trashing the initiative. Generally speaking though ER is pretty good on match days about such things anyway.

I've ticked every box on that list<laugh> but do these new guidelines include the black power salutes as well?, do they include general abuse such as regional abuse, apparently I'm a cockney this and cockney that and Leeds and other Yorkshire teams are wippet shaggers and such like, abuse is part and parcel of football whether you deserve it or not!!

On the whole thing about PL tightening up against abuse/discrimination and the Fuzz being a part of sorting the sh1t out, it has to start somewhere ... if mistakes are made then so be it, as long as they learn and improve ... thing is, you don't get all this sh1t at rugby games, so why should football not look to clean up its act?

Bielsa at Citeh may well be to discuss Pep moving to Leeds as his assistant so that he can start to learn Bielsa Ball and be ready to take over when Marcelo eventually decides to retire ... then again, it's probably a meeting to get Girlish on loan for two seasons so that we can get more set piece crosses into the box ... depends on how big the lad's falling over bonus is

Transfers are always a tricky subject as Bielsa demands confidentiality, even from those Leeds are talking to ... we really don't know who's on the radar until they literally turn up for their medical ... something may well still happen before deadline day, I think there will be a club out there willing to belatedly drop their trousers to get some cash in, as with Raphinha last season

Can't wait to sort out the Scummers on Saturday, think Bielsa Ball may have come a bit too soon for the Pennine Prima Donnas and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Leeds get a result at Old Toilet ... I shall be there in the fkn home end thanks to the generosity of a client, it's going to be hell if Scum are on top ... hip flask of single malt should kill all the fkn germs and numb the buzz

Not your problem and as I can't see you getting into the PL any time soon probably best not to worry to about such things.

Happy to help in case you were worried about getting a ban.

I think there are bigger battles for the FA to fight.

Chucking people out of grounds will change nothing. Nothing. Other than more 'decent' fans being chucked out for unexpected (by them) aberrations to their normal well-balanced approach to life. I've almost been chucked out many times, mostly in those dark days when we had plenty to be upset about.

So calling a fcuktard steward a cock-sucking ****er can get you banned for life, yet in Turkey, you don't even get spoken to if you lob a hand grenade on to the pitch. This is the battle that must be fought first by the FA. Get UEFA & FIFA to act.

I'll never forget FIFA's ex-top crook maintaining 'that's just the way they are over there". Totally unacceptable to me. Life bans for a one-off regrettable decision over here, yet almost lauded for lobbing a brick in Turkey.

Basturds the lot of them - FA, UEFA, & FIFA - corrupt, fawning, misguided basturds, the lot of them.
