Was going to post exactly the same , the record isn’t good enough, I was excited as anyone when he was appointed, but that record isn’t good enough regardless of the circumstances, it’s well and good we’ve changed things for the better moving forward but football is a results business in the here and now. We need to start winning football matches NOW, or ……… as RoD put it I’ll leave you all the fill in the end bit. Over to you ..
So Williams is back injured AGAIN and we are dumped out of the cup by a bunch of tree-hugging hippies who can keep their composure better than us for penalties.. Normally I wouldn't be terribly upset by the cup exit, but we have now failed to win in 11 competitive games and we conceded a late goal YET AGAIN. This is worrying (well, to me anyway).
Yet again you fail to answer anything. The team that started cost around 26mil, by the time that Palmer and Bakinson came on it 30mils worth. Apart from Kalas name one player who played and cost us a fee who can come close to claim to be consistent since signing? and secondly other than Bakinson who has youth and potential on his side, name any from last night that we could recoup our outlay on?. I agree it has been a shambles since LJ left, but there is a reasons, thankfully 11 of them have departed and quite a few more showed last night that maybe their shrinking sell by date has come to an end. It has nothing to do with LJ haters the reality was on show last night, 30mil wasted.
You have to admit though LJ and even DH managed to get the same players to perform better than Nige has been able to, doesn’t that worry you , even slightly?
With all due respect it wasn't the defence on Saturday, that was the problem. I know he is popular but for me Weimann proved exactly what we know about him, he has a great engine, has little or no composure in front of goal, not a great passer or crosser of the ball and sadly we have a mini Weimann in Massengo and add to that list ODowda. I am not generally a fan of one up top, but Saturday should have been different, we should have taken our chances and been out of site and judging from last night I can probably see why we are playing with one up top.
It's not to do with fees or costs, as a team over the years, LJ managed to get performances out of what he had......(not always good I grant you, not helped by disruption in selling off key players)..... but not struggling the way they are now, or since he left for that matter........we had bad runs, but he had the capability to sort it out.....I haven't seen that since he's left if I'm honest.
Of course it worries me but at the end of last season and last night, it's plain to see that you cannot polish turds, especially some of the more expensive ones in our squad. What worries me more is that the players who cost money and cannot break into the first team, have never been consistent since we signed them (apart from Kalas). In LJ's last season we only managed 2 more wins than last season, we have to become far more consistent in performance and some of our more expensive signings have to start to deliver.
‘Shocking’, ‘Awful’ – Plenty of Bristol City fans fume at key figure after EFL Cup exit https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/s...y-fans-fume-at-key-figure-after-efl-cup-exit/
Bit worrying that he couldn't be arsed to clap the fans there last night!! Hope he's not turning out to be another SoD..
Like 4 wins out of 22 games, when were in 2nd place? and was rewarded with a 4 year contract? It is about money and fees because we are in an unprecedented place re finances, because of covid where we have to sell to bring in a much needed striker and what we have available for sale does not appear to be attracting any interest and last night should serve as a wake up call, it was a chance to stake a claim and yet again nobody did. The good news is Pearson will stand or fall on his own decisions, unlike the previous cloudy dysfunctional way of signing and selling players.
That last time was 12th March 2020 a 3-2 home win v Derby followed up by 7 defeats and 2 draws and the sack, name that tune?
Those players need to take a long hard look please log in to view this image in the mirror. Embarrassing even the second team should have won that game. NP can’t be blamed for players letting last minute goals in. Blame sits with those players. @BristolCity @FGRFC_Official
On Saturday we saw a performance where at least the 11 starting players + the oncoming subs gave 100% and that was generally accepted even on here that that was a welcome change. The disappointment was missed chances and shocking game management at the death. Last night we should have witnessed 11 starting players + oncoming subs absolutely busting a gut to get into the reckoning for a starting place or in some cases a place on the bench for Saturday and it would appear that we never got that again.
I'm never that fussed about the League Cup until we're in with a chance of the quarter finals or better, but after Saturdays all too familiar let down by conceding a late late goal, and wasting loads of chances to put the game to bed, I had hoped that ongoing trend would be bucked last night, but clearly not. No reason to panic yet, but the initial signs are not that encouraging so far this season.
When LJ was in charge, he was being held responsible for mistakes like that, as he picks the players, organises formation and dictates tactics. Now NP is in charge its suddenly the PLAYERS fault and the manager is blameless? Oh my days - talk about selective criticism!!!!!
Well here is a question for everybody and I will be interested to read the 'honest' answers. SL sacks Pearson and brings in a new manager and the same old same old continues, especially with our expensive mix of 'fringe' players, then what? do we finally blame those players or change the manager again?
