After all this, his first question in an interview will be 'do you fart in a suit?'

Just to be a typical Saints fan, Shane Long's main weapon is (was) his pace. Does (Adam) Armstrong also possess the ability to put the ball between the posts, and under the crossbar?

Now, can we get him to link up with Aldrin, with Collins playing a supporting role? (OK, I'm old enough to have watched it happen. Or not, if the conspiracy theorists are to be believed)

Whoo Hoo! Good players, Season Tickets on their way, how can we fail this season? (Note to self: try to find this post in May 2022, just to see)

It’s interesting as when I was reading the Blackburn forum a lot of them said he wasn’t very quick and didn’t possess “Premier League” pace. Was another reason why some thought he might struggle with the step up.

Just have to wait and see, from the videos I’ve watched he doesn’t look ridiculously fast.

Magic, were the Blackburn comments after he was known to be leaving (ie Sour Grapes time), or do they think that they've managed to offload a mediocre player?

Did Rooney possess premier league pace?

    Or Shearer?

    Or Kane?

    Or Van Persie?

You could argue they are all elite players and some of the best the league has ever seen, so how about Bamford, Calvert-Lewin and Jiminez - all good goal scorers in recent years.

Or the man we are so worried about being able to replace... Ings?

People are so obsessed with pace these days. Yes it can be a great asset, but ultimately, aside from wide players, there are many more important attributes than pace.

“He’s so fast on the transitions that he’ll be a huge threat for Southampton.”

    -Tony Mowbray, Blackburn manager.

    Agree.

And the converse argument works too. What are strengths of Long and Obafemi? Pace. Are they top Premier League strikers? No they’re what we’re hoping not to be relying on!

Most of the top players are quick where it matters, between the ears.
Always a step ahead of others in their thought process and anticipation.

Yes but somebody said his main strength is his pace, you wouldn’t say that about any of the ones you have highlighted

Ah, I was replying to the comment that Blackburn fans were questioning whether he had "premier league pace" or not.

Just highlighting that it isn't a requirement to be a successful premier league striker.

This brings me back to the glorious days with everyone obsessing over signing a "cb with pace"...
