Ben Arfa was arguably one of the most technically-gifted players to put on a City shirt. The problem was that he was a lazy ****. Nearly every manager who worked with him said he had potential to be a world-class player but his attitude let him down. He's the Nick Kyrgios of football.

Poor bugger, he'll probably only have about the same amount of money to live on annually for the rest of his life after he retires... until he becomes President of Argentina and starts milking that too,..

Really disappointed he didn't choose to test himself in the PL. Brilliant footballer but taken the easy option when surely money (greed) shouldn't have been the driver.

£25m a year, after tax, bloody skin-flints!!! That said Messi never paid tax in Spain. His dad hired a creative accountant.

That is an obscene amount of money. Really needs a top level wage cap, it’s not sustainable

    It's ridiculous.

    Grealish earns £369,231 a week. That's £52,747 a day. £2,197 an hour. £36.60 a minute.

Basically, if Jack Grealish dropped a £20 note in the street, it wouldn't be worth his time bending over to pick it up because by the time he's put it back in his wallet, he's already earned it back again.

    Meanwhile, starving kids.

Peterborough have signed central midfielder Oliver Norburn from Shrewsbury for an undisclosed fee.

Flynn Downes has joined Swansea from Ipswich for over £1m.

I agree it's ridiculous. But what about everybody else in the world who earns £20m pa, and there are plenty of them? Should they all be wage capped? Who by? With what authority? Sadly, it's the world we live in and I can't yet see an end to it. A 90% tax rate on earnings over x million would help but show me a govt who'd have the balls to do that!

I understand, but it just feels like a slap in the face to the downtrodden in this country that there's blokes earning £369,000 a week.

Some of that money has to find its way to the worst hit of us otherwise there's something badly wrong with how society has turned out.

I get where you're coming from but wealth inequality isn't a mistake in capitalism, it's a feature. Jack Grealish's £100 million transfer fee and £350,000+-a-week wages whilst working-class people, many of whom are football fans, live on scraps after a global pandemic isn't Jack's fault, his agent's fault or even the people running Man City's fault, really. It's just the economic system working as intended. The ridiculous amounts of money involved in football, mainly since the 90s, is just a symptom.

Forget about fault, the bigger question is how did we fix it?

I can't offer solutions that wouldn't violate the no politics rule. I was just making an observation on the current state of things.

Slater isn't in the 18 for Sheff either tonight. Surely they'll let him out.

C Jones is starting for Morecambe and Festus is starting for Barrow
