MPs will take part in their first full-scale debate on the Hillsborough disaster on Monday night.

The debate was triggered when more than 139,000 people signed an e-petition for the full release of 40,000 documents relating to a tragedy which took the lives of 96 innocent Liverpool fans.

These papers include cabinet minutes which campaigners want releasing in an "unredacted, unedited and uncensored form".

The government, which appealed in the High Court against full disclosure, insists it has every intention of releasing all papers to the Hillsborough Independent Panel.

Prime Minister David Cameron has now added his support to full disclosure.

Calls for the full release of documents relating to the 1989 Hillsborough Disaster in which 96 Liverpool fans died are to be debated by MPs later.

The debate was triggered by an e-petition which gathered the support of more than 139,000 people.

Families of the victims have long called for the release of 40,000 documents relating to events at the FA Cup semi-final match and its aftermath.

Hillsborough files: Dalglish welcomes government stance

Kenny Dalglish has welcomed the news that the government has urged the Hillsborough panel to release documents relating to the disaster to the public.

    How the Hillsborough disaster happened

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7992845.stm

Although it remains the name of the ground of one of England's famous old football clubs, since 1989 the word "Hillsborough" has more strongly evoked Britain's worst sporting disaster.

On 15 April 1989, 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death and hundreds more injured on the steel-fenced terraces of Sheffield Wednesday's stadium, which was hosting that year's FA Cup semi-final.

The above post is to keep Liverpool fans on this board up to date with regards to the upcoming debate.

I ask respectfully that other fans don't use this thread to open a debate on the Hillsborough disaster.

Lets hope, they reveal the truth. Instead of trying to protect certain parties. The 96 deserve to have the truth revealed, deserve some closure on this.

It's due to start at 7.00 pm and I think there's enough publicity surrounding it to ensure it will have a profile somewhere.

Watching it, Virgin telly channel 612. Maria Eagle made an absolutely inspired and cracking speech, stating that the police were culpable. A few of the MPs have slagged off MacKenzie as well.

If you dont know, read this:

OK, I take the link out because the article through it change. But yesterday they said the PM should apologise.

I don't really see this out come as a serious result.

It was nothing to do with David Cameron, and wasn't really Margaret Thatchers fault either.

    What do you guys think?

I have to admit I wasn't actually born when this happened, so I don't have quite the same altitude of feelings as some of you. But I know this was a tragedy and a big part of LFC history.

I apologise to those that saw his comments and responded but I had to delete all the posts that quoted him.
