I love the charity shop look he seemed to have adopted, not sure he can go a whole season of unmatched suit components though.
I'm feeling good about this season but not sure this game will be a blinder. 2 teams going through changes, could go either way but expect us to give a solid account of ourselves. FINALLY, finally we will be able to look at the bench and see the potential to bring on someone who can affect the game offensively.
That time of year where excitement builds, hopes get raised, expectations form. You never quite know what you will get with saints. Fans are back The changes made to VAR should show improvements on last season, Our recruitment so far looks positive. Just 3 reasons to smile. Whatever, here's to a fun season, the road will be bumpy but lets enjoy the ride. COYR
I have a sneaking suspicion we're going to do surprisingly well this season. We've recruited (it seems) smartly, we have a defined way of playing which we will be able to play now (with these players), and we have (in my opinion) a very good coach in Ralph.
Sartorial elegance is an important factor in the coming season. Will it be the training gear with with lunchbox, the more recent pre season look or even the full Southgate? Which manger(s) stand out in the technical area fashion stakes?. Oh Saints win 3-1 please.
Am loving the positivity on this thread for how this season may go and all the double negative stuff. Has put a smile on my face this morning - thank you all!
I would say yes, On the grounds that we bring someone Who is level with Romeu in terms of ability to play in his Position and Role.. We crumbled last year without him, Much moer than anyone else in the side. Get that right, And i can see us Targetting 10th/9th position.
We had the second most goals conceeded last season. While that is not helped by conceeding 9 in one game, it is an area we need to tighten up if we are going to manage a season without flirting with the relegation zone. We scored an okay amount for lower mid table, but that was in no small part down to Ings so you can understand why we are considered one of the candidates for relegation. Need to improve defensively and maintain our goals for without our one quality goalscorer.
But it's not as if Ings scored 20 odd goals like he did 2 seasons ago. He scored 12 PL goals last season I think. Not a massive amount to find. I would hope A. Armstrong will hit double figures and then we've got Che, Theo, Tella, S. Armstrong, not to mention JWP's free kicks. I doubt we'll have anyone near the top of the scoring charts like Ings was when he hit 22 but we've got enough there to find those 12 extra goals.
Without Ings 12 goals we scored the equal 4th least. So we are relying on our new players chipping in with a good few each plus our already existing players of whom you've listed scoring more this season than last. I'm not saying that isn't possible, and I do think we will be okay. But I can understand why we are in the conversation for relegation candidates.
Oh I definitely understand it. We're a real enigma this season - we could genuinely finish anywhere from 6th to 20th. I'm looking forward to it!
I'm actually quite pleased we've got a tough start. I reckon we're going to give them all a tough game, possibly taking points off teams we're not expected to. I think we'll be well up for the United game - first home game with a full stadium since March 2020 and a dose of revenge in order - like we did to Leicester.
I think we are more 12th to 20th, erring more towards 15th to 20th. Let's hope LTL that your upper aspirations become the reality.
