Any word on how many we’ve sold? Fair ****ing play to anyone heading down there tomorrow night. 1000+ wouldn’t be a surprise at all.

I am 90 minutes away and hoping to get there. If I can get away from work a bit early, which might not be easy, I will make a last minute purchase and head down there.

If I turn up and RTBs team is named I will be a happy fella

Same here, 90 minute drive away and I'm quite tempted to drive up. It would be good to see what some of the kids can do.

    Port Vale Manager Darrel Clark:
HAVE YOU HAD MUCH TIME TO RESEARCH SUNDERLAND?

“That was my Sunday. Watch our game back, assess and analyse it, clip it, get the presentation I want to give to the boys this morning right, then after that I am straight into watching Sunderland’s game.
“It is difficult to assess Sunderland because they might make changes. You are not really sure what teams do and how their cup games are going to be.
“So, it is difficult for that, but it is difficult to assess the opposition in the early games to be honest with you because normally, after five or six games, teams give you a pattern or a style so you sort of know what you are coming up against a lot of the time.”
SUNDERLAND COME HERE WITH A BIG REPUTATION AND WILL WANT TO PROGRESS
“Yes, big reputation. League One, but Sunderland were in the Premier League. But Lee Johnson is a talented manager and I am sure he will get them heading in the right direction.
“But it just goes to show, it doesn’t matter what your name is, it is still eleven men v eleven.
“You can still have the biggest support base - which Sunderland have, they have a Premier League support base but they are still in League One.
“Until they earn the right to get out of League One, it is all immaterial.
“It is like ourselves, Port Vale in League Two. Everyone thinks we shouldn’t be in League Two, but until you earn the right to get out of it, it is all immaterial.
“Names don’t mean anything, it is about putting performances in.
“The bigger names in divisions, trust me, normally get five to ten per cent extra off the opposition as well. So, they are in for a tough season but I am sure Lee will get it right.”
BUT YOU WANT TO MAKE PROGRESS IN THIS CUP AND VICTORY WOULD GIVE YOU A PLATFORM
“Yes, we are looking for that platform. We are looking for that base to kick us on. I think the first win is always the hardest one if I am honest with you and hopefully then we get that on board and kick on.”
    ANY INJURY PROBLEMS FROM SATURDAY?
“Yes, one or two, but like I’ve said George, I’ll talk about that after the game. So, I am happy to answer questions about who missed out and why, whether it be tactical or injury. Not a problem, ask me after the game and I will keep you informed.”

Lee Johnson has touched on keeping the momentum created on Saturday going towards Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup first round tie at Port Vale.
The Lads face Vale for the second time this calendar year and the match potentially represents a chance for players absent against Wigan Athletic to stake their claim.
“We quickly have to turn it around [from Saturday] for the tie on Tuesday,” the Head Coach insisted.
“It’s almost that internal drug of getting that win – particularly in front of the fans – at the weekend, which emphasises it even more.”
With many of Johnson’s team earning considerable praise for the opening weekend win, the gaffer discussed his collective pride in the squad ahead of what is the first of three straight away games in all competitions.
“Taking that momentum forward is important and certainly now having secured that first win at home on the opening day.
“We played some great football and I feel it’s difficult to single out too many great performances, as it was a real collective squad effort.
“My overall feeling is pride, and now we turn around quickly and focus on progressing in a cup competition.”

Fair play mate. I’m down Wakefield tomorrow but the longer shift makes it impossible. Like I said earlier - fair ****s to anyone bothering their arse tomorrow night. Top support.

Top Marks for the thread again mate.

These matches may be meaningless in the long run but they're great for bringing players into first team matches.

Johnson must love them because he can try players in different positions and practice things you can't do in training.

I cant make it but I'll try to get a thread or at least listen to the commentary.

    Haway the Lads!!!

I can't see him playing Mcgeady. I still think it will be at least 7 or 8 changes. Can't see Neil or Winchester being risked, Evans, Doyle Flanno won't play either imo.
