splitting hairs, we still haven’t had many that score 12. Not meant to be a negative ninny post but there’s nobody out there at the moment who I think will come in and give us a season of goals. The last minute nature of this move will bite hard for the first half of the season unless we get very lucky and find a player who clicks instantly to a new team, new tactics and a new league. It’s a big ask and I’m expecting some low scoring games with squeaky bum finishes as we try to eke out a 1-0 win. But I am hopeful that the combo of adams and tella will hurt some of our closer rivals.
Ah, BBC said he limped off after the game and it was the only negative. Also.. maybe a bit less contact in the warm down??
A fit Ox would be an incredible signing. He is injury prone, but then so was Ings when we loaned him from Liverpool, and that went alright. Will need a significant reduction in salary though, and I can't see many clubs willing to take the risk on him. So it would be up to him. Sit on the Liverpool bench and earn 120k a week, or come to Saints, the club where it all began, play every week, become a hero, but only get 70k a week. Oh well, it was a nice idea.
He is surprisingly quick for a lad of 6"3, has great control, good with head. To be fair he looks bloody good. Just whether its a bit too soon though. No doubt he looks a star of the future. 10 goals in 20 starts in the Eredivide for an average team isn't too shabby though.
Certainly has alot of pace and directness about him. His work ethic looked very good too. I know these video's tend to be self-promoting, but there was much positivity to be seen. If Saints want to play quick, counter attacking football, this man certainly suits that style of play.
Chelsea fans think he’s very, very good. Largely in a potential sense, but I’d rather him on the bench than Shane (or Oba).
We should give Bale a call, too. Chambers could do a job? Let’s re-build the team with academy players we lost (I think Chambo would be a great signing by the way, but heard West Ham want him).
Apparently we *are* trying to see if we can get Broja on a permanent deal from Chelsea (which would excite me more than Armstrong).
Would be a bit odd as he has literally just signed a new deal with them. You would’ve thought we would’ve been monitoring him for a while and made a move before he signed the deal to find out his interest etc A loan with a future option maybe but would be weird to get him permanently now I’d say
It doesn’t seem worth it for either party otherwise. He won’t get enough games in one season here compared to if they sent him somewhere else (say: Norwich) But if we offer them a buy back and a big sell on then it gives them a better chance of getting a return over time Let’s face it he isn’t dislodging lukaku for a good 4 years and he won’t develop as his first reserve
And they still have Werner. I’d imagine their forward option this season will be Lukaku/Werner/Havertz Broja will most likely be out on loan for the next couple of years at least. Did a bit of looking around the web and Chelsea fans think he is a very big talent, they are a little surprised he is going on a PL loan though as they aren’t sure if he will play loads
I think Chelsea just give out deals as a par for the course and a youngster would sign it for security in most cases. I appreciate the other two didn’t but I am not sure it means that much His last contract was 3,500 a week. So even if it doubled it wouldn’t be much to “buy out” and then increase again if required And it could be timing. We may have been monitoring but no idea that Chelsea would be potentially amenable to deals with sells ons and the like until the other discussions
Armstrong and Broja seem like the type of players Ralph wants in his team. Broja especially for me seems the most intriguing.
I hope we can swing a permanent move I’d like to see a 6 come in which we have been rumoured to be in for (so not sure whether Oxlade will be just a bonus that we didn’t expect to be potentially available) And ship out Vestergaard and bring in a new central defender and a back up left back (everything seems silent on the latter of those which is mystifying)
What do we do about Obafemi now? Assuming we get Armstrong and Broja, I can't see Obafemi getting much game time ahead of Adams, Armstrong, Broja, Walcott & Tella. Normally you would think a loan deal but with just 1 year left on his contract that wouldn't work. Get him to sign a 1 year extension then a loan to the Championship perhaps?
