Surely that's Englands title! We have a population of more than 3x the Dutch and they've generally faired better in competitions than we have.
Wouldn't surprise me if he ended up elsewhere - Sheff Utd will loan him out expecting a certain amount of game time. Ross Stewart is clearly 1st choice here and Jebbison would be backup. Not sure that would suit anyone
They check forums and are aware of the fans Been better than us in.comparison over that time. Their own worst enemies in 90's / 2000s as loved an argument in the squad
Squads not good enough though is it. It's missing 3 or 4 defenders. 3 would be starters and that's before looking at strikers. We also are a couple of injuries away from struggling to put a team out. I hope to see this rectified but we're painfully slow at getting people in so far.
Well we beat a side on the weekemd who have got more in and according to some didn't seem to have a problem "doing the business". No point in just signing any old knacker is there?
It is drawn out more than we would like, but, looking at the recruitment so far,it appears to be on the right lines and certainly better than anything we've known for years. For the first time in a long time,we seem to have a cohesive strategy and know what we're doing.I'm trusting the new regime from what I've seen so far and I'm confident that we'll have the right people in the right places before too long. I'm also confident that we're not about to spunk a load of cash on impulse buys who ultimately won't fit.
Could esmasilh have gone the other way. Not sure why they stopped targeting our full backs as they were getting joy. They stopped 2nd half and fell away. Happy they did but other sides will exploit weakness unless we do something about it. Oh and we can sign good players earlier than we have. It's not a case of early signings are all old or crap.
The fact that we haven't would appear to say that: A) We can't or B) They're not the ones we want How many fullbacks that other league 1 sides have signed would you have wanted here?
Early days yet with new players. Good start though. Appears that we think players will become available later in window. It's usually a sellers market late in window where clubs panic. We need to get this right. Rightly or wrongly they'll be judged on the next few weeks business
And its not the case that late signings are the scrapings of the barrel. It doesn't matter when they come in, as long as they are quality signings. The team are playing well, despite the lack of full backs, so we don't need to be rushed into buying just anyone. Its better to wait and get the right players.
It is early days, but the signs look promising. We definately need to get it right, which is why it may be taking a while. Rightly, they will be judged on the overall business we do in this window, with the proviso that Rome wasn't built in a day and it would be foolish of us to think we're going to get everything done exactly the way we want it in one go.
I haven't followed every transfer so far in l1. There has been a lot of movement though. However there is a point of view that all l1 moves are poor and our business is better. Truth is there will have been players that could have improved us. Look at the deal we pulled out of with no deal for anyone else.
I wouldn't go that far. We definitely have gaps to fill but everyone knows that, most importantly - the Head Coach and the Recruitment Team know that.
Except for the possible deal for Cirkin. Maybe the terms weren't right? Maybe a previously unknown injury was discovered? Maybe he was a boyhood mag?
I'm not suggesting buying anyone. Never have but ti suggest we've nit been able to properly strengthen to this point is wrong. For whatever reason we've chosen to leave it late. A few injuries and we're in real trouble.
Ok then winchester came off on sat. If he's not fit to play and Neil gets a knock we'd be scratching around on Saturday. The recruitment team have known since may. We're still in this position.
Garbage to say end of window signings are weaker. Actually quite the opposite more often than not these, especially loans, are players who were right on the line of being retained by bigger clubs. There’s a fair bit of PL movement last couple days which had been slow to start due to the Euros and players returning late, I’d certainly take a couple more like Doyle over panicking buying any old shot like Wigan. We were far better than them, I agree they missed a trick not targeting the left side more but we were just visibly a way better side than them. Remember, they are supposedly one of the main contenders.
FFS, banging the same drum. We'd all love us to sign a couple of fullbacks but there could be a multitude of reasons why we haven't yet. 1. Wrong type of player 2. Inflated price 3. Piss poor attitude 4. Too old 5. Max Powers mate 6. Gender neutral 7. Injury cloud 8. Wages demanded 9. Current club not ready to release 10. Doesn't want to relocate 11. Mate of Max Power 12. Barcelona are interested Need i go on?
We'll never know I suspect. But getting to point of signing a contract then pulling out for no other signing isn't a great look. Cirkin still hasn't signed either.
