This is really important to me, as a service manager for over 20 years i always listened to new starters and worried when they said "where do you put these or this" instead of "where do we put these or this" Might seem minor to some but to me it was a sign of commitment and belonging/wanting to belong. I have to say it was by far the ones that used you instead of we that were short lived and never fit in with the lads for various reasons.
I was impressed with Gollini in his first game yesterday. He looked confident and as if he had been with Spurs for some time. For a goalkeeper, especially good, where you want to see him commanding his area and reminding defenders on the detail.
I liked his attitude during the game. Quick to rally the defence, but also happy to voice his discontent at poor play. Made a point of celebrating some good defending from midfielders tracking back, particularly Alli and Winks, who aren't specialists in that area. One of Hart's strengths was how vocal and animated he was and it would be nice if Gollini can replace that instantly.
Nothing really to learn from the game yesterday. If the CM nor attack can hold the ball, or CM cannot make controllable passes when under pressure against the press, then expect a repeat of last season.
Looks like Sanchez has been given the Alderweireld long pass role. Done alright at it so far, to be fair.
My stream is a few minutes behind, but I'm commenting after Lloris saved Lacazette's shot. So far, I think it's been a decent game. We had a very slow start, but felt like we've grown into it. From my perspective, I'm still concerned that our ball circulation isn't as quick as it should be and I'm not seeing enough penetrative passes through the lines. Although you've been very well organised and defended in tight areas quite well. You look quite dangerous when you counter. Bellerin is a clear liability, so you should be targeting him more than you are.
The team seems to have gone to sleep a bit after a decent-ish start. The shape is still rubbish and we've not got a striker. Very wonky.
Another chance to see how Skipp does in an MF with little creativity or ball-holding capability, against PL opposition.
