So ATM does it look like Walcott and Adams up top with Shane coming on as super sub to Nick the points? Just testing out ideas, assuming we don’t replace Ings.
A loan maybe? I can’t say I was overly impressed with him last season. If they didn’t have their injuries at CB he would’ve just been released having not played in the PL and ended up at a league one/ Championship team on a free
If we're counting on Long to come on and nick the points, our prospects aren't great, heh. He's not a Premier League-quality striker at this point...at his per-minute goalscoring rate in the past four seasons in the PL, if you sent him on for the final 20 minutes of every game, he'd nick a goal every 23 games.
With Shane long it is most likely he leaves on loan as late as possible so the loaning club minimises their wage output I wouldn’t be surprised for him to leave on deadline day
I guess the concern there would be he went for 15m just last year so I imagine Leipzig would want around that Perhaps him and the Greek chap who is going for 5m as both seem like big forwards to play with either Adams, Walcott or Tella ? I don’t see another way of getting 2 in. I definitely don’t see getting Sorloth + Armstrong or Edouard Have any fees been mentioned for him yet? I am saying all this but he might be a loan with option or obligation. Option would work for us given his previous in PL. As long as it was more concrete than the Toby one ...
If we are relying on Long then we may as well accept Championship now. That said, I highly doubt he will be a Saints player come the end of the window. We will get 1, maybe 2 forward options in. I just hope we get Armstrong or the PSV kid - Edouard is over rated and has serious issues with attitude. He was great for Celtic until he was linked to a big move, since then he stopped putting effort in and at times even got dropped by Celtic.
Remember lads, it isn’t Shane Long who decides who we buy and sell, and he also doesn’t pick the team. Let’s keep those pitchforks in the garden shed for now eh?
The questions remains; do two armstrongs make a right? Certainly agree, they're seizing the moment to sell and wont be interested in loans. We already have Stephens in the otherwise solid career in The Championship level berth. £9m top dollar.
Le God would have played for the Mighty Saints for free if he had to. Lionel Messi doesn’t have the cajones to do it, despite earning a vastly obscene amount of notes from Uefalona. We now know who the best association football (soccer) player of the last 40 years is. It ain’t Messi, that man played for the Mighty Saints.
Who we replace Ings with feels like a huge decision now - season defining. Big test for semmens and co.
