I didn't say he was playing CT, this is what I said. This is what it says in the paper article so he must have signed before 12 today to be in the squad. Wasn't being argumentative CT, just trying to be informative.
Hes in the squad according to Baz. System we play, the majority of goal threat comes from the wide forwards getting in the box - as long as we have a kingpin in the middle for them to play off.
I hope your right but I haven’t seen anything to suggest wilks will get double figures. First of all he needs to speed up his lax attitude, he got away with it in l1. He’ll get found out this season
Didnt he get half way there in a shocking side in less than half a season last time out? *edit. 5 goals in 16 starts for us in the championship last time. 1 in 3 nearly - in the worst run of club form probably ever. Extrapolate that to a 46 game season and it would equate to 15 goals in what proved to be the worst side in the league. Turbo, by comparison bagged 7 in 28.
Name your charity. I make a donation to yours if he doesn't get 15 championship goals. You donate to mine if he does or gets sold for a fee in jan.
I swear you're on the wind up. He got 5 in 18 for us in the champ when he was fat, unfit and in the worst team in the league. He's easily good enough to hit 10, and his game improved a lot last season
It still amazes me when people fixate purely on our incomings this summer (which have been quite good IMO) and completely disregard that the key quality of our squad is its AGE. Even purely judging players on how they performed last time around in the Championship (as Geo seems to be trying to do (poorly)) is really naive considering players actually improve during their formative years.
I agree. I thought Magennis improved last season a fair amount considering his age. But it's no surprise, he signed for us on deadline day, which gave him no time to settle or bed in. I felt like he became a real leader in the group, and his performances got better and better, especially with his feet. I'd expect him to beat his 4 goals tally he got for us in his first season pretty comfortably. This summer's signings have been very good (if we're realistic about our targets). Really looking forward to seeing Moncur
Mentioned on our podcast that my red flag over the first month or so of the season will be if KLP and Wilks don't score a goal as they're going to be vital to our success, but I have no doubt they will score 15-20 between them for the season if not more.
I'm sure they'll score, Wilks especially, he appears to have really knuckled down now too. The first month or so for me is just about minimising damage until Honeyman gets back. He's our heartbeat and probably our best player. If we can get the midfield balance right, we'll be fine.
Both were poor. From what I can recall, they showed nothing of what was to follow. I'm not even sure George would use that as an excuse (Stewart and Lopes weren't that bad)!
We needed to build on the momentum from last season. My worry is if we have a bad start, with a relatively young squad, are we sufficiently resilient to cope with that?
