Quoted exactly from Martin Brundles post race Korea blog! Now can the people who still say he cant race admit now they are wrong! He is every bit as good as Button Alonso and the rest!!

"Watching the opening lap from Vettel's onboard camera confirms to me that anybody who says he cannot race has no idea what they are talking about."

Slightly confused by your title Colin! Do you actually mean "can" or "can't"? :)

I'll wait a few seasons before thinking of him as much of a racer. There's no denying he is fast, but I'll be more convinced how good he is when he's competing on more level terms with the people around him. A phenomenal car hides a drivers true talent and can easily make a great drive look awesome. Jensen is a good example. If we only looked at the first half of '09 then we'd be putting him up there amongst drivers like Ferrari era Schumacher in terms of dominance and racability, however, now he's on a more even footing he is showing his true level which is fantastic but clearly were exagerated and amplified by the dominance of the early '09 Brawn.

I look forward to Vettel giving us a more exciting championship in years to come when his car is competitive and not dominating.

Do we have to have one of these threads every time Vettel makes a pass?

The overtake on Hamilton was more because of Lewis' stupidity than Vettel's racing ability. He effectively handed the race victory to Seb after his useless defensive driving on lap one.

Vettel has already proven in the past that he can race, but this overtake with Hamilton wasn't an example of that.

was there ever any real doubt about his ability , surely not from anybody that can see the wider picture ,
when a driver such as vettel that is so quick that he finds himself on pole more often that not and is showing that he has great tactical awareness in the car so much so he very often controls a race from the front ,

the chances to actually pass anybody gilles villenueve style have been few and far between , however as we have seen this year when the chances have presented themselves he has shown everybody that he has the minerals
    ---------- and then some --

The problem with drivers that have been groomed for a top drive though out their career is that we never get to see them in crap cars, when Vettel was at Toro Rosso it was still basically an adrian newey designed car with a Ferrari engine bolted onto it.

Hamilton suffers from the same stigma he has never had to prove himself In a lower team, this gives the die hard fans a problem, they really don't know if it is the driver or the car, so they go for the car, they also see that the Seb and Ham fans as blind followers of a driver that is winning without that driver having to prove himself, and feel said fans will change their alegence the minute a more winning driver comes along.

The die hard fans are those fans that have followed a driver though thick and thin from almost the start of his career and will never give up on him no matter what, he has seen his favorite in lower teams and struggle and has supported him in the bad times.

And when that driver shines through and finally wins the WDC there is no greater satisfaction to be had.

Basically we are not fans of production line world champions.

If Mark Webber wins the WDC he will be heralded as a better world champion than Seb because he has had to work harder for it, starting from Minardi serving his apprenticeship and reaping the rewards of hard graft.

There is absolutely no doubt Vettel has raised his game this year and it has shown.

That he has 10 wins to his team-mates 0 shows what a performance he has put in. When a car is that dominant you would expect his team-mate to at least have a couple of wins himself. Shows how much of a difference Vettel is making.

Or it shows how average Webber is. He is lucky to be in that team, he didnt deserve the title last year (I know he didnt get it but most people think he deserved it more than Vettel) and he is probably not going to get anymore race wins in his career. Atleast he wont by skill.

He needs to up his game bigtime next year i agree with what you said abot how lucky he is to be in that redbull. Can you imagine if he did win the championship last year and had this current form . He would of been classed by fans, media, teams as the worst current world champion ever

Why the heck do we need to make such a song and dance about every time Vettel makes one overtake?? Big woop, his competitors make twenty times more each race. I don't think Webber is as fast as Vettel (even I'll admit that) but he can certainly race wheel-to-wheel better as was shown this race.

Becuase he used to crash into everyone trying ;)

It was the one thing he lacked composure in, but he seems to be over that. Does help when you're miles in front, but he has made some good passes stick this year.

I still say it is the car and not the driver and until he proves himself in an average car nothing will change my mind, not even his two or three overtakes per season.

And when little Jack Horner comes on the radio after the race he sounds like a pre recorded message. beep "Well done Seb great drive." beep,,,,,,,, boring......
