Don't think it does. Why should we negotiate over our valuation...if they want him then pay up, like they have with Grealish. City look classless, Kane looks like a two faced, disloyal moron and we look like a club refusing to be pushed around by a player (who willingly signed a 6 year deal) having a public tantrum and a plastic club with deep pockets.
He may be the messiah, but obviously is not a "special one" (if Kane does not go to Citeh this summer, I hope Jose reads this and WUMs Pep accordingly) .
The point is we shouldn't negotiate ones they don't want, i.e. Gabriel Jesus (who'd be a bad fit for our team anyway) we should be saying £100m + Cancelo or GTFO
Then Kane should look in the mirror. He has treated us as fans like ****. If he wants to move then he should forgo any signing on fee and accept a pay cut to sign for City so they can afford the £160m. It is City that are refusing to cough up then Kane should take it up with them. It is they who are refusing to pay. If Ben White is worth over £50m and Grealish is worth £100m then Kane is worth £160m...end of story.
He is tbf...and he made himself look a dick. He has spent OVER £920m as City manager in just 5 years and they complain they can not afford Kane and moan that we are refusing to negotiate. Great football visionary but a crap person running a successful but embarrassingly classless club imo.
The fact that Bayern were glad to see the back of him because he doubled their wage bill yet took them backwards in the Champions League says it all He's the guy who plays Football Manager, but only ever uses Barca
This £160m keeps getting bandied around as what we want. How do we know they haven't bid that sum and still told to get lost?
Fair point...tbh it is generally the case that once a figure is generally used as being the asking price it is correct so if City had offered it I think we'd have taken it...but Kane's behaviour this week could well change that as it would have seriously pissed the club off.
If the players are Dias and Cancelo then maybe we can exchange Kane for those two plus £60 mill. I’m certain the neither of them would want to move however
Levy (let Fabio get our own business done) should throw all manner of combinations of £100 mio plus X players at them. If they or their players don't agree then they can go do one. At the very least we'd be stringing them along until deadline day. And if they do agree, I'm sure Danny Boy can move the goalposts
Juve’s officially confirmed Atalanta have activated the buy option for Romero. I’d say that now makes our announcement pretty imminent. Nice bit of business by Atalanta it has to be said. Buy for €15m and immediately sell for about €50m.
Quite a bit was made of Harry mentioning a very specific sum of money - £100m - in his tapping up session with Neville. I wonder if in his mind that sum is a reasonable bid, one that City have subsequently matched. I hope he and his brother aren't so dim that they fail to appreciate the implications of Grealish going for the same amount, as it obviously places Kane at least £40m higher. The annoying part is, and I think this is why Pep made a point of mentioning it: The Grealish fee wasn't a reflection of his true value. It just happened to be his release clause. QED it is clear that in City's and Kane's eyes, the two values aren't comparable as City paid well over the odds for Grealish (bc they had no choice) but £100m for Kane is a fair estimation (bc they do have a choice). Where they are wilfully deluded is in assuming that there is a connection between overpaying for Grealish and paying fairly for Kane. Kane would've been valued higher than Grealish even if the latter's release clause was £130m.
