Pep said they could only afford Grealish because of sales, Messi wouldn’t be attainable financially but then says they’re interested in Kane?

    Eh?

As I mentioned a week or so ago, they've made less than £20m in sales this summer - and already spent that on a bunch of South American teenagers

City should listen to Pep. If Kane is an exceptional, extraordinary striker then it will take an exceptional, extraordinary offer to convince Levy to sell him. Negotiate all you want but unless that kind of money is on the table then it shouldn’t be happening.

The arrogance in that quote - we don't need to negotiate, we have named the price they either pay up or **** off

Why should Spurs negotiate? Levy has given them a price. Put up or ffff, push off!!!

Or enter into negotiations where we go through which of their players + £100 mio they're willing to part with. When those players inevitably decline, then tell them to push off. At least we then look like we're being reasonable. That Guardiola statement makes us look like the bad guys now.

Pep's not the Messiah. He's just a very naughty boy.

I think it also shows his lack of comprehension in getting that other clubs won't fall over and die when City come calling.

I don't think that makes Spurs the bad guys. It makes him look very naive.

    And a right git!!!

How does it make us look bad?! They’re lowballing us on one of the best strikers in the world, the most influential player in terms of G/A at a club last season in the PL, after tapping him up and convincing his agent and team to stir up a whole load of **** to try and force a move.

Levy is no saint but he is not the one coming out of this situation smelling like **** right now.

They do what they want, imagine trying to hide behind FFP. They broke FFP and didn't get punished, they play to a different set of rules. For me if Harry has tarnished his reputation with the fans, really hope we get north of £150 million for him. He's been a great player for us but he is part of the reason we haven't won anything. Rather than sulk shoulder some of the responsibility. Instead he is looking for the easy way out.

In Harry's eyes it does. How can we accept a reasonable offer for him if we're not entertaining offers? That's what Pep's putting out there.

Because I doubt what they’ve offered so far is ‘reasonable’. Kane will know what they’re offering anyway, I doubt he cares much what Pep says in public beyond ‘we want you’.

We are talking about Daniel Levy, everyone has a price even his own grand mother. What impression would it give to potential new signings if we said our best player was up for sale. City know the price but would rather try and force Kane to go on strike so they do not have to pay the asking price.

Maybe you're right. It just looks like Pep's trying to control the narrative

Is that interview with Pep not tapping up? It is putting their interest out there to unsettle a player under contract. If he had stopped at Kane is a Tottenham player, then fine.
