Not least because we likely got at least 10m more from Villa than we would have from Spurs

Things move on, particularly quickly too, in terms of football clubs and their players. He’s a big loss, but look back over the years at the forwards that have come and gone and we always find good goal-scorers. Here’s the list of our top scorers since the 92/93 season (only mentioned once each): Le Tiss, Ostenstad, Pahars, Beattie, Crouch, Rickie, J-Rod, Pelle, Mane, Redmond, Austin, Ings. On top of this we’ve had the likes of Barnard, Connolly and Kevin Phillips. I guess my point is that Ings is undoubtedly a big loss, but in a few years I’m sure (and i hope) we’ll be pinning our hopes on another top striker not making a move elsewhere.

My summary of the Ings move is as follows:

Surprised? Not that he's left, but to Villa, Yes
    Disappointed? Yes
Do I understand him moving? Yes
A good deal for us? Yes, (£30M for a player on his last year is a cracking deal. certainly better than £20M to Spurs on the last day of the transfer window)
Do I really believe he’s not as good, now he’s moved? No
Will I boo him on his return? No
Will I laugh when he gets crunched by Romeu? Yes
Will we bounce back from this? Yes
Do I still love the Saints? Yes
Am I excited about the season starting in two weeks? Yes
    COYR? – Abso-bloody-lutely!!

Was reading in SaintsWeb that although he is from the area he didn’t support Saints as a kid, supposedly a Tottenham fan. What a ****

We're about 3 generations in regards people no longer support clubs in their local area. Workplace environments have changed and the critical mass, where more 'fans' loyally support the clubs they had on their duvet cover at the age of four, out-number Saints fans.

In this light, I hosted a BBQ/Football afternoon where I invited friends and their children for a tournament and burgers in my back garden. They tuned up, like moths to a flame. Parents and kids wearing their big-six kits as requested.

I had contrived the ideal opportunity to attempt to damage as much expensive polyester as possible; with the aid of a bellows - which was used enthusiastically on the hot coals, making sure I was in charge of "clumsily" serving the condiment drenched oily morsels, while ready to helpfully mop any spillages on the offending garment, by smearing it deeper in to the fabric.

Somebody did seem to twig what I was up to, after I had all but ruined his son's Spurs home kit - an obvious target - but I just laughed it off. Saints won and It was a glorious afternoon.

Funny how that never came out when he was our player and I bet that poster used to sing that "he's one of our own"...sour grapes much

Was more saying that Ings never outright said he was I think. In his interviews said “home town team” or something

Not really a big deal though, I’d just assumed he did support Saints

No he is the Grealish replacement at Villa. Imagine, Ings feeding off Messi.

I have no problem with Danny leaving or wish him any ill but I have not seen him mention the club or thank the club and fans like most players do when they leave even Lamina did. Have I missed it or something?

Let's see, ideal location, good transport links, ideal for super yacht owners, untroubled by mass media types (they only come here for other reasons, rarely Saints etc), legend creating supporters etc. etc. Ok slightly less money, but hey think of the smaller tax bill, I mean why give the government all that money anyway. Yep, a possibility me thinks!!!!!!!???????

Nothing from him yet and no acknowledgement on the OS, it would appear the departure has been somewhat acrimonious on both sides?

Thing is, if we did sign Messi, it would only be the equivalent level of shock to when we signed Keegan.

Ings will remember, fondly, his previous club (us) in the week before we play Villa, in an ultimately futile attempt to stop the Northam End lads (and lasses, no gender bias here) singing "Heyyyy, Danny, I wanna know - o - o, why you're such a c**t"
