Our contract offer was to make him the best paid player in our history, so was certainly north of £100k/week.

Just how much are Villa paying him?!

We live in a World where 80k+ a week for four years isn’t considered a massive final payday <laugh>

About £120k pow, but not sure any of us will truly know. I mean, none of us really spout off our wages around the town, do we.

When I go shopping in Aldi, I have to make sure the Giro has been paid in before I go to the till, as I dont want to give any clues away as to my financial position.

Not when you can get more elsewhere

I have no idea what he’s being paid at Villa, haven’t seen it reported anywhere

I didn’t think we had anyone on 100k a week, thought our max was about £80k

All the speculation about how much we’ll miss him and his goals is of course very valid, but it will be interesting to see how many games he plays next season, and how many goals he scores.

People seem to be suggesting 120k, but that’s only across three years, we offered him 4 years on at least 80k possibly more.

Football aside another sign of the embarrassing state our sick society is in.

Lots because he is brilliant. This whole thing of fans suddenly pretending our best player by far is suddenly rubbish is so strange <laugh>

He will get minimum 10 goals. He isn’t irreplaceable but he is brilliant. We will be lucky to get someone in that gets anywhere near. But I believe if anyone can it’s Ralph.

It is funny that it happens every time we sell someone we didn't want to leave. Just peoples coping mechanism though I think. Ings is still one of the best strikers in the league, a natural finisher who can create a goal from nothing and score goals that only the best can score. He is injury prone, but I still can see him getting 15 goals or more.

I think he’ll do alright but wouldn’t surprise me at all if he is used as Watkins’ back up/rotation so won’t play loads of games

No way. Ings is much better. I think Watkins moves out to the left and ings plays as a 9 feeding the wingers

He is obviously still a cracking player, but whether he turns out to be a success at Villa or not depends entirely on his injury roulette.

It's not just Danny Ings goals we will miss. He has been so influential all over the pitch and his creativity is almost as important as his goal scoring. He is not just a goal poacher. There's much more to his game than that. He is a very clever and highly talented footballer.

He has gone, and I think we will miss him a great deal but the way it has worked out with a decent selling fee, fingers crossed that we do something sensible with the money. Maybe we will be a lower scoring team with a far more solid defence than in past years and right now I would take that. I don't think we will ever be a boring team under Ralph, and having a solid defence would make for a very nice change.

An interesting claim considering he got less than that last year as guaranteed starter (no competition from someone like Watkins)

an injury or two and he doesn’t get 15 and definitely not more

He will score goals - no denying that . But 15+ is very confident. He hasn’t done that often

I don't think it's that overconfident, 20+ would be, even though he is capable of that. Obviously how many he gets massively depends on injuries, but last season he had Covid, he had mulitple injures, it was a compressed season with limited pre-season and limited recovery facilities which is even worse for someone injury prone like Ings, plus he had the contract situation hanging over him which never helps. Not to mention he was playing in a team that was in the worst form in the league for half the season. And he still managed to bag 12 goals. I think 15+ is a reasonable prediction, he is certainly good enough to get more than 15 and I would have backed him to hit that sort of number if he was still at Saints too.

On the flip side - he has scored more than 15 goals in the premier league once ever.

And more than 15 in a season twice

Villa were in poor form the second half of last season. Not as bad as us but still poor. And are losing their best creative player and hoping the replacements work out. Now if they are bringing in someone like Damsagaard (who their fans want desperately) then I’d start to see your point. But they would need to settle

Bailey has the air of a player who could really go to either extreme. He could be amazing or he could be an absolute flop (relative to the price). I personally don’t see a middle ground for him

It will be interesting to see

Interesting how none of these multi millionaire football players invested in personal recovery facilities. Especially injury prone ones who apparently need them more.

Danny Ings can’t afford an ice Bath, an infra red sauna and a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Nonsense. They guy who runs the small gym I go to has the latter two of these and doesn’t have that much space. You’d think these players would take their conditioning a lot more seriously than they do (and the vast majority really really don’t)

I'm naturally disappointed that Danny didn't see his future with us but thank him for all the entertainment and brilliant and often sublime goals. We march on though and I think that this will be a BIG season for Che and Nathan Tella and i'm personally excited to see how their partnership develops which of course it may not have if Danny was still here.

And we will always have the two goals in front of the Fratton end....<bubbly>

Interesting comments Greg. That all makes perfect sense; especially regarding injury prone players :emoticon-0148-yes:
