I'm sure Don Fabio will make them an offer they can't refuse. And if they do refuse he'll send some Luca Brasi type round to to take care of the situation and we pick up the insurance money. Daniel Levy signed up for the full Deadwood removal package when he got the Don in.
there’s still plenty of time left to sort it out, but we’re leaving ourselves with a lot of work to do. What’s a certainty, is that any new signings won’t be ready for the start of the season, other than our goalkeeper who is probably going to be on the bench. Oh..And our only striker is on strike. So by default, we’re in a worse position than we were at the end of last season. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse!
Son can deputise as striker temporarily though right? He has played there for you before and scored goals. I thought you might have gone for Ings. Tammy would be a good fit for you I think, but unlikely we'd sell to you guys given Levy's past unwillingness to sell to Chelsea.
Others have said it before, but when Kane departs, it ultimately requires us to adopt something completely different. Personally I don’t think Son can deputise. We have no out ball option/target man. CK also pointed out in the pre season match thread the problems with a 433, and I strongly agree. We don’t currently have strong enough players in our front 6 to make it work in the way the likes of Liverpool have recently. we needed someone like ings in addition to Kane, not instead of. Now we’re going to be ending up with neither. Unless rabbits are gonna be pulled out of hats, it’s not looking great.
I wonder if we look at Watkins now Villa have signed Ings. Doubt it’ll be easy to get him though and it’s banking on the player making another set up. Think he has a lot of the qualities Kane has though. Otherwise in terms of goalscorers we know can do it in the PL it’s slim pickings. Vlahovic looks like an option from Serie A but he’s had one good season there and it’s a gamble for other reason. Would we look at Weghorst again?
Son isn’t that great as a striker to be honest. He can fill in there from time to time and grab a few goals but you wouldn’t want him leading the line for an extended period of time.
We’ve gotten rid of a solid amount so far but there’s definitely a few that still need shifting. I reckon Sissoko will be next to leave and it sounds like Sevilla have a genuine interest in Sanchez, especially if Kounde leaves, so hopefully we can exploit that. Then it’s getting captain crab and Aurier out the door too.
It sounds like we’ll find interest for Sissoko and Sanchez, and Aurier wants to leave so I assume his agent is touting him around. I still think Winks is staying unless we buy a lot of CMs. We’re so overstocked that even if Sissoko and one or two of Gio/Tanguy/Dele go then we’ll probably be fine with just one addition. Winks wants gametime and I think he’ll get it this season with the ECL.
I reckon he’ll be better off if he gets domestic cup games at Everton or Villa. We can give John a run in the ECL.
If only the club listened to me for like the last three or four years. Could’ve got him from Exeter for a couple £m. Then from Brentford for about £20m. If we try and get him from Villa now they’ll want an extortionate fee, especially if it’s with any potential Kane windfall. Think that ship has sailed now unfortunately.
Romero’s due to do his second part of his medical today in Italy then fly over this evening to sign his deal. Could be announced tonight or tomorrow then I’d imagine.
Add to that how, last night, we were playing like we expected Kane to be dropping deep from up front but there was nobody there (in more ways than one...) so the reality is that having Kane as the focal point is in the DNA of so many of our squad - and that means playing somebody who has a very different set of attributes, most obviously Son, isn't going to work This also means that if we are looking to bring in a striker, they need a similar skillset so they can slot in when needs be, because if we sign somebody with a considerably different skillset (i.e. Watkins, Gabriel Jesus) we'll simply weaken what they can bring by making them a square peg to go into a round banana
Tomiyasu Watch Football BSider report that we'll be making another bid this week, presumably once the Olympics wraps up
Hey, we gave Cudicini to you. We even allowed him to sign for free, despite the fact that he was still under contract, as a reward for 10 years served. Who have you sold to us in the Roman era? I think the Modric saga left a bitter taste in CFC's mouth.
