    Clearly the Independent is incapable of reading the facts and reporting them.

    The visa waiver to visit the Schengen area countries would still have applied to Britain even if we were still in the EU since we were not a Schengen country. Non-EU countries such as Iceland, Norway and Switzerland are also in Schengen. EU members the Irish Republic, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Romania are not Schengen members. The idea for this was actually brought to fruition by our last EU Commissioner and it is intended as a security measure to stop terrorists travelling to the borderless zone.

    Of course, terrorists can just get a boat from North Africa or the near East to avoid detection.

    If Britain introduces a similar system, it will do little to stop the hoards coming ashore in Kent, now being ably assisted by the RNLI who fish them out of the Channel and refuse to return them to France – a traffickers’ taxi service paid for by charitable donations.

    However, we can definitely say the visa waiver scheme is a tax on foreigners. Always the best form of stealth tax because they have no say so they can either pay it or stay out.

    Well, it got pretty nasty in the 16th century during the Reformation, then got nastier after.

    Then all sorts of bad **** happened in the 17th,18th and 19th centuries. The people had **** all.

    The 20th century started off looking quite nice but two world wars ****ed that up however the people started to have things and political rights.

    The 21st century has been ****e.
