I thought all the reports previously were suggesting Ings wanted a move to a club playing European football? Weren’t there rumours of Man City from The Athletic?

Villa doesn’t seem like a big step up. They must be paying him a fortune, surely. No other reason to join Villa. Either that, or no other clubs put in a serious offer (which I find hard to believe).

Some predictable meltdowns going on here. What was the club supposed to do exactly? Force him to sign the deal he’d repeatedly rejected? We lose him for free, we don’t get the money to replace him. They made an acceptable offer and he clearly wanted the move.

For this to go through so quickly it must be an un-refusable price? (e..g to not hold out and see if Spurs / Chelsea were set to make an offer)

Massive gamble from Saints though

I can understand why the club have done this.

My good will to Ings has evaporated though.

He has effectively forced a cut price move to Aston ****ing Villa.

He wouldn't sign the contract, what alternative did we have?! 30Million is better than **** all.

Cya Danny... Hope Has the club on puppet strings. Time to reinvest.

If it’s £30m then pretty happy really. Would’ve been a disaster letting him go for nothing next season and not having the chance to buy a replacement.

Need to get the replacement right though obviously, and maybe another player with the money as well.

We’ve always tried to sell early so that they could replace who was needed. I’m not surprised that they didn’t want to drag it out all summer with such an important replacement.

I don't get where he fits into their team, either. Watkins and Ings? Can't see it.
Maybe they're planning on either shifting to a 4-4-2 or selling their main striker? Either would be weird.
