Troy's book is coming out: £20 apparently. I think that will be a Christmas stocking filler out of the bargain bucket by then
According to SSN Transfer Show, we are looking to send Tom Dele-Bashiru out on loan. Am not sure how I feel about that - he possibly needs it, but I was looking forward to seeing him break back into the first team this season.
Yes, he is one of those players that I think could turn the corner this year and be a big player for us. Maybe if we have call back option that we can invoke??
Changes in the VAR rules. Will we see any improvement or just more confusing decisions and inconsistencies? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58064333
If they don't want 'trivial things' penalised, perhaps it would be a better idea to change the Laws of the Game to reflect that. And/or heavily fine every so-called pundit or sports journalist who states "there was definitely contact so, for me, that's a penalty..." Anyone would think that football is a non-contact sport the way they carry on. Fiddling with VAR rules won't change anything - when it comes to 'contact', the problem for referees is deciding whether or not there was intent - no easy task in the heat of the moment. And then there is the issue of cheating players - perhaps a lengthier spell on the sidelines would be a better deterrent for the guilty ones? Such as a six match ban with no right of appeal...
I did suggest something similar some time ago about diving, basically saying that if they go down and there is doubt in the refs' mind he/she could ask the player 'were you fouled?' if the player says yes then free-kick given, if no then drop ball (or some form of restart depending on the situation) BUT if the players say yes they were fouled, but it is subsequently proved to have dived or manufactured contact then they get a substantial ban....I think that I suggested 10 games However, if I recall correctly someone/people on here suggested that it would not work as the benefit of winning a pen to stay up or something would mean players would just take the punishment!! I agree the cheating and diving needs to stop!
I like a good (auto)biography. The most moving book I have ever read - Back from the Brink: The Autobiography
How to manage that is the major problem though - one man's cheating is another man's 'game management', so it's not just players who are complicit, it's coaching staff as well. And then there are fan expectations as well - perhaps instead of requiring double vaccination passes in order to attend games, fans should have to sit a comprehensive test on the Laws of the Game and, if successful, be issued with a Football Attendance Licence? That way would mean less pressure on referees. And don't start me on FIFA - their constant tinkering with the laws has done more harm than good. Maybe we should scrap the current rule book altogether and go back to the original one of 1845, in which virtually anything bar murder was permitted.
There was a player who played for us against KL last night who made his debut but has been signed by us for 4 years. Think his name was Andrede or similar? He has been out on loan until now apparently.
A 22 year old Colombian player named Jaime Alvarado. Has never played for us; probably never will. He was on loan at Athletico Paranaense in Brazil last season. Mostly played for them in the state league rather than the national championship.
Watford are playing a preseason friendly fixture against Doncaster Rovers behind-closed-doors at St. George's Park today. https://www.doncasterfreepress.co.u...ors-friendly-with-premier-league-side-3333564
You're quite right - especially as the team we fielded was a mix of triallists and those in the shop window. Probably even more especially as Kings Langley gave us a thumping.
