    Had a quick look and couldn't find this topic done recently and I think that's a shame because I can't be the only person who has noticed a dramatic improvement in Gutierrez's game since the latter half of last season right?

    When you go back to around one year ago we all loved how Jonas could run at players and cause all sorts of problems but the first complaint on everybody's lips was that his end product was poor. After a string of fantastic crosses this season and, surprisingly, even an improvement on his dribbling, I thought I'd give Jonas a round of applause <applause>, consider him one of our best, most hard working and most important players at the moment and ask if anybody disagrees.

    This is basically the exact opposite to that infamous HMT thread.

    He waves now and that's all that matters.

    <ok>

    Here here!

    Completely agree with you. His dribbling, attitude, pace, flair, work-rate, defensive work and consistency have been fantastic. Hopefully he keeps it up!

    Here here! A goal and an assist in his last 2 games, what do you mean "end product"? ;) <cheers>

    Jonas had a really good game and he's managed to perfect his wave, what more can we expect of him?

    I think it's only the fact that he's seen Marvo can push him real ''hard'' for his starting spot so therefore his performances have improved AND remember when he was benched and Ben Arfa took his place against Man City and then he put in a MOTM performance with a cracking goal. It seems the more competition Guti has the more he thrives on. <ok>

    He's like Newcastle United's progress over the last season or so personified. Last season he was workmanlike but now he's kept that and added more flair and end product to his game. Love Jonas, he has exactly a lot of what every Newcastle fan loves in a player. He works unbelievably hard week in week out, can coast past a man with ease and adores the fans and the city. The look on his face when Ameobi scored yesterday just epitomised it all, he was like me when I unwrapped my Mega Drive on my sixth birthday.

    EDIT: Btw I don't really understand all this waving stuff, I think I missed something.

    People talked about how he steps up with competition - like when HBA came in around this time last year, maybe this is a similar effect with Marv etc. Hopefully he's just improving though!

    When I saw this picture it made me think of that scene in Spiderman where Peter Parker is trying to figure out how to shoot webs...

    He's improved massively, but let's not kid ourselves, his crossing on occasions yesterday was still pretty woeful! Lovely assist for the goal though, and the amount of work he puts in is incredible. I really rate Walker as a full back and Jonas didn't give him any peace yesterday.

    One thing that really pleases me is that he genuinely seems to love the club and the city, it's so nice to see someone who wants to play for us.

    There was a hot headed knee jerk rant many months ago by HMT in which he called Jonas a '****ing twat' because he didnt wave to the fans after a match. It has become a staple joke.

    I think it's because Bartons Tash got angry cause Jonas didn't wave at the fans after a match <laugh>

    Great performance yesterday! I think a lot of his crossing this season has come from necessity - last couple of years he simply played 1-2s with Enrique and Enrique would whip in the cross - thats not happening and its up to him to get to the byline...Much happier with him!
