Yeah, and we're all just commenting on speculation until we find out exact figures. One thing is that Chelsea have Reece James, and he should be their RB for a very long time. Will they even need Livramento back in a few years? Tino also has to displace KWP, which will be tough to do in the next couple of seasons. Maybe their buy back clause has an expiry on it? If he does become first choice and Chelsea want him back, we should still have KWP, so it's not like we'll be in a bad position. There are a load of potential scenarios with this one.
Happy with that. Chelsea aren't likely to want him back (if they do at all) for 3 years at least I would have thought and if they do we make at least 20mill profit.
If true that seems like a good clause for both clubs. Rumour was Brighton wouldn't agree to the buy back clause, but seems strange why not considering that price. Apparently Lamptey hasn't got a buy back clause, so Chelsea have learned their lesson.
100% I wonder if the Williams thing was a bit of a clever smoke screen? Certainly hope so anyway. I just couldn’t see Saints paying anywhere near that loan demand & always thought it was bollocks.
Hasenhuttl was talking a couple days ago about how players are more likely to run their contracts down now, in order to open up more options. With Ings, Vestergaard and Hojbjerg, we have found difficulties and seem to be in a powerless position. Players that we could sell for £30+ million are sold far below their value. On the flip side, as shown with this deal, we could now have more access to impatient players from the ‘Talent Farms’ such as Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal, where we end up spending less on players anyway. Buy low, sell high just becomes Buy lower, sell for decent profit. Like a Poundland Dortmund.
Also helps that we seem happy to be a place for young players to play for a couple of seasons then be sold on for healthy profit. Makes us more attractive to talented young players over clubs who might try and stand in their way and force them to stay.
I agree, unlikely they would want him back, they had a buy back on Ake and didn’t bother. Then city buy him for £40m.
People who have watched a lot of Chelsea academy games think he's the best prospect they've had in years. Saying 'if you thought Lamptey was good, Livramento is streets ahead of him'.
I don’t know about everyone else but I would settle for “Poundland Dortmund” . Except you are probably being OTT with Poundland It would be more like they are M&S and we are Asda or Tesco...
The list of players who are now into their final year - not just in the PL, but across Europe - is incredible. Obviously Mpabbe is the absolute headline name, but it's a huge list. Even bigger than those who were (or still are) available for free this summer.
Haaland is also rumoured to have a clause in his contract where he can leave next summer for £75m, so him and Mbappe potentially moving in the same summer could have a knock on effect and create a lot of transfers. Perhaps why City want Kane and Grealish now?
Among the tweets from Chelsea fans; 'This makes me sick to the core' 'Tino will become the best RB in the world' 'His attacking play is relentless'
