That's the issue though. How do you replace one of the top 3 strikers in world football? No one less than Haaland or Mbappe would fill us with confidence. Everyone else is automatically both a downgrade and a massive gamble. So our task becomes mitigating those to the best of our abilities. I'm a big fan of Bamford. No question he's a big step down but in a better team I think he'll net 25 a season, knows the league, is HG and would fit our system. I'm not seeing many other suggestions on here tbh. I've stuck my neck out and mentioned Jimenez and Bamford. Vlahovic is a good shout but very young and coming from an inferior team in an hugely inferior league. Big gamble for a reported £45m.
Great player but best playing off a bigger 'focal point' of the attack. Inter use him and Lukaku like we use Kane and Son. Good player but the wrong skill set.
Not with DCL or Bamford, lol. I’d take them as second choice strikers but definitely not ones to actually replace Kane. Replacing Kane is obviously gonna be a nightmare because you’re gonna need about 3 players to replace his impact but for me, I just don’t think we should be looking at the two you mentioned. I think DCL is extremely one dimensional and Bamford has been around the block and only just enjoyed his first properly good season in the Prem, I think he’d be a massive risk despite hitting decent numbers last season. Both would be ridiculously overpriced as well due to their HG status and us having the potential Kane windfall. You’d have to pay about £50m for either.
This is way less complicated than it looks. Have City put a bid in that Levy and Nuno are even close to happy with? No? Then nothing changes. Kane can sulk all he wants to. There can be no move if there is no bid. Unlike Betbatov and Bale, Kane actually had a chance to win something significant with Tottenham and he didn’t show up in the big game when it could have made all the difference. Imagine wanting to be spoken of like Ronaldo and Messi, but not showing up in big games.
Isn't it time we pointed the finger at the real reason why Harry Kane is so unhappy? Jack Clarke wearing his flip-flops after Saturday's open training session please log in to view this image
There is nobody comparable to Kane in terms of what he brings though. Looking at an up and comer like Bamford might be sensible as there’s no readily available replacement within our reach.
Does anyone believe that Levy agreed to sell Kane to City on the cheap, even in theory? They've tapped him up in exactly the same way that they did Walker. Had a word a few months before the season ended and ****ed us over. We need to be public and vocal about never dealing with them. £200m to PSG or stick Kane in the reserves for 3 years and **** him.
Ali Gold tweeted similar this morning. Said there is no way City will be able to do a cash-only deal for Kane if they are spending £100m on Grealish. Which means the only option is to include players in the deal and as has been discussed on here, aside from Laporte we're not exactly buzzing about other options they might include. And if the deal for Romero does go through, I can't see Laporte being high priority for us either, especially if his inclusion reduces the fee by £50m. Which means Kane can sulk as much as he likes, if the deal doesn't suit the club there is no reason we should sell.
Yep, lol. Journeyman striker with one good top flight season to his name at nearly 28 years old, it's why I think it's mad to suggest him to replace one of the best strikers in the world.
I’m all for Levy digging his heels in…160 or **** off is the deal However I can’t help but get flashbacks of Berba going to United in exchange for some money and Frazier Campbell ffs…that appealed to the same Levy.
Utd abducted Berbatov from the airport after Levy had agreed a transfer with City, IIRC. He should've burnt Old Trafford to the ground rather than accept any deal with them after that, in my opinion. The FA and Premier League were nice enough to tell us to bend over and take it, too. ****ing corrupt ****ers.
