There’s some degree of speculation as to whether he is isolating waiting the results of his Covid test after holidays, or whether he was supposed to get tested at the training ground. Nobody really seems to know.

This is one of them where unless Ali Gold says something today, we’ll wait and see what happens tomorrow. If he’s not in tomorrow I’d be more worried - unless he tests positive and has to continue isolating, or something like that. As of right now there’s just so much noise that it’s impossible to find a reliable opinion over social media.

Yeah I guess it’d probably be a minor upgrade seeing as Traore is quicker and has slightly better numbers but if we’re to sell Bergwijn I’d rather try and get someone a bit more proven with a better end product.

Right now if we signed Traore he wouldn’t make my preferred XI, Son and Lucas over him for me and I’m really excited to see Gil in action too so I’d rather he got games over Traore as well.

Agreed. I’ve never been convinced of Traore’s qualities as a footballer. As you say we have plenty of options in those positions and I think Wolves would want a good fee. It’s a no from me.

being a bit of a knob imo but I’m not surprised

He did zero to put out the transfer speculation during the summer…his means of dealing with this fits his persona. Wants to say he doesn’t want to play for us but doesn’t quite have the minerals to do it so now he’s becoming that person who’s getting all passive aggressive.

It’s telling that this happens time and time again. All these players claim to have a gentleman’s agreement and the club denies it and then the player does all they can to force a move.

    Why is that?

Wolves had a bad season, they really struggled with Jiminez being injured. The season before I remember a story about our players asking Mourinho to sign him. Nuno knows him better than us. If we can recoup what we spent on Bergjwin and get Traore for £35 Mill I think its a good deal.

Spending that much on a player not really needed is ok if you’re City or Chelsea. Spurs need to fix the defence and a replacement for Kane, they can’t afford to spending £30-£40million on Traore

A number of our players are **** though so it’s no surprise they thought Traore was good <laugh>

£35m for a guy with with just 7 league goals in three seasons at Wolves is poor business in my opinion, especially as we already have better options in Son and Lucas. And to be fair to Bergwijn too, he has 4 goals in 34 league games, so he actually has a better ratio, not that it’s anything to brag about of course.

Zero sympathy for Kane if he is skipping training though. Don’t sign a 6 year deal then, or if you do, get a proper agent (not your brother) who will either negotiate you a long contract with a buyout clause, or advise you not to sign for 6 years without one. He’s given a lot to us but we’ve also given a lot to him throughout his career. Put up or shut up.

Ultimately it’s all speculation right now as to why he’s awol today, refusing to train is very out of character for him though, and Kane strikes me as the kind of person who actually cares a lot how he is perceived. Speaking out before the end of the season was out of character already though so who knows, maybe the worm is turning.

Everyone ****s it when Traore warming up…at least with him I feel that you could get a top cameo performance full of aggression. Unfortunately when I see Bergwijn warming up…I just go n make myself a cuppa or nip to the loo.

Not surprised at all. When COVID came along I hoped that Harry (as England captain) and Hugo (France WC winning captain) would volunteer to take a temporary wage cut to cover Spurs staff that were about to be furloughed, thereby forcing others to do the same by their example. Didn't happen.

Harry doing a Berbatov/Bale is par for the course where Spurs are concerned. Gentleman's Agreements only works between gentlemen.

What is a gentlemans agreement, if you don't want to commit to the club don't sign the most expensive contract that the club has ever offered, or get any changes that 'you' want added in writing which if all parties are in agreement shouldn't be hard.

Kane is being foolish if he think that' a conversation between him and Levy is binding, and even if they have some sort of agreement its quite likely that Levy will have said that it can only happen if the clubs valuation is met and that clearly has not happened yet.

It will be a shame if Harrys time ends in this fashion but won't be a surprise, we have lost players before and recovered and we will miss him for sure, but if he doesn't want to be here then we have to move on.

While I agree with you in principle, I believe I’m right in saying that this would have caused some serious issues with the PFA, in terms of players taking wage cuts in order to help clubs to meet other financial obligations. I think, at the time, there was discussion of this and the union was worried that it might set a precedent for clubs not paying players in certain circumstances.

You’d think the acceptable way around it would be for them to make voluntary donations to a fund to support club staff who were impacted by the pandemic, in the way many players did for NHS staff. I don’t know much about unions but I think this would be more acceptable than them taking a pay cut.

Ally Gold’s said that Romero’s deal is nearly done. He hasn’t been too vocal on this one, especially not as much as Romano and the other journos so good to see him wading in and seemingly saying it’s almost complete. Hopefully we can get this wrapped up in the next 24-48 hours, seemingly spent a lot of time on this one and there’s a fair bit of work that needs doing still.

Given the price being bandied about, we would want more than a minor upgrade - and Traore is certainly a minor one based on his Premier League numbers

    Traore: 140 games, 7 goals, 16 assists
    Bergwijn: 35 games, 4 goals, 5 assists
    Lucas: 107 games, 17 goals, 10 assists
    Lamela: 177 games, 17 goals, 26 assists

And then when you look at similar players in and around the midtable pack, Traore really starts to look unimpressive
Dwight McNeill: 96 games, 7 goals, 16 assists
Leandro Trossard: 66 games, 10 goals, 8 assists
Nathan Redmond: 175 games, 17 goals, 17 assists (and this is discounting his stats as a non-winger)

More than anything else, there's no denying that he's a streaky player - and we already have Lucas, Bergwijn and Clarke* fulfilling the role of winger who can be absurdly good one game and completely anonymous the next

    And one more thing...

Leeds have posted their interest in Traore, and by complete coincidence we start getting linked with him a day or two afterwards

The PFA were actively telling their members not to take paycuts during Lockdown I

Then the PFA started hand-wringing about clubs potentially hitting the wall during the pandemic

Yes, the same PFA who were actively telling their members to not allow their clubs to reduce the largest expense of their running costs which were not being offset by ticket sales or TV money...

If these rumours Kane has refused to turn up for training is true, then fack him, nobody is bigger than Spurs. He has disrespected the club and the fans. He was obviously tapped up by £ity towards the end of last season and made his mind up then, but the way he has been going about getting a move has been unprofessional, I have lost a lot of respect for him and in my eyes he has given up Spurs legend status, he is just another player like Keane, Sheringham, Berbatov etc. Obviously a few cheap, easy and hollow medals means more to him than Spurs immortality, sadly this is football these days.

Of course, this will suit the real villains in all this, ENIC, who can now sell Kane knowing the fans have turned on him, and plead `the player forced our hand` line. But the fact remains, had ENIC been prepared or able to match Kane`s ambition, we would not be in this situation, and instead building a great team around him.
