Has anyone actually seen him play before or just going on reports? He only gets OK on football manager so I’m not particularly excited
I've never seen him play, so can't get excited at hearing that a deal is close. But, nevertheless, if he does turn out to be good enough then that it great news for two reasons. Firstly, because we'll have solved our RB problem. Secondly, because we could generate a healthy profit on him in the future. Now granted, Chelsea will probably insist on a buy-back clause (or a sell-on fee). But they often don't actually choose to activate their buy-back clauses. And even a share of a healthy profit is still decent.
If this deal does go through, it marks an interesting change of tactic from the club… many of us thought 10 million limit max per player wouldn’t get us that far, but when we are looking (quite rightly in my book) to use some of the masses of youth talent that must be knocking around the top clubs then Ralph and Semmens should be applauded for this deliberate change of events even if their hand has been forced by short arms/deep pockets Gao….
Its a player with huge potential to cover for KWP who is one of our best and we have Valery. Its not really a signing to get excited about but when SerieA, RedBull and EPL teams are all interested (rumours) then you know you are getting one of the best up and comers in the market.
Chelsea fans seem devastated on Twitter. Some claiming he's their best youth player for quite some time. That's saying something considering the amount of talent they produce.
Was waiting for someone to say this. Nah, not for 5m. And he seems a much better prospect than Diallo (for example).
Chelsea's academy player of the year, can play both RB/LB, and fills the need of having a versatile defender to back up Perraurd and KWP. Ticks all the boxes for Ralph.
According to the Daily Mail article, "Livramento can play as a full-back or wing back on both sides of the pitch." If not, I reckon KWP could do a decent enough job on the left if necessary.
We’ve got Djenepo for left back anyway. A left side of Redmond and Djenepo, champs league here we come
If this is true then it seems to be an indication that our recruitment team seem to have a plan and know what they are doing Far more than a few years back I just hope the Delaney links are true and still wouldn’t mind a left back backup (even if it is another promising youngster) Intrigued about the Armstrong situation and whether that is just something being lined up for if Ings goes this summer or something we want to do regardless ? A potential hole in our squad that isn’t mentioned often is another player like Stu Armstrong . We really don’t have anyone else like him
I think it underscores how disappointing our own academy has been that we are now recruiting from those of other teams. It seems pretty clear that we are trying to increase the quality in the reserve squads to enhance competition in the shprt term. I would suggest that these players might take a while to get established in the first team. It would be nice to add some older and wiser heads to the squad as well.
