It's crazy how many people out there suggest that Merc planned that... I mean, they couldn't even get on the right tyres at the start, but can plan a trickshot to take out two Red Bulls by cannoning a McLaren on to them. That's pure genius.

I wonder if Horner apologised to Ferrari when Verstappen went up the inside at Spa and took Vettel out?

They can complain about the accident caused by Bottas, but Verstappen’s crash at Silverstone was self inflicted

I need the summer break over already. At least the Indycar summer break ends next weekend!

I feel robbed today. OK, there were some highlights but they did not compensate for the Lewis/Max tussle. 12 races to go, anything can happen.

Just watching Ted's notebook and the huge amounts of kit the teams have and their hospitality structures.
Anyone know if there are any vids out there of time-lapse of their build?

Yeah. I feel that too. Didn't get the on-track duel we all wanted.

I had wondered about that. There's been a few times he's looked pretty worn out since last year.

Vettel only had 300ml left for his fuel sample at the end of the race.

That's pretty much a slam dunk penalty for him sadly. 3 more points for Hamilton, 1 more for Max, and a heap load more for Williams!

We did get Hamilton vs Alonso though. It’s unfortunate and unfair really that Red Bull have had the turn of events they have had recently, even though I say so grudgingly because they work so hard at being unlikeable. Some of it is self inflicted, some of it very much not and I’d rather see the season ebb and flow on the form of the teams and drivers and not random misfortune like today. I even regret the rain a bit as I was fascinated to see how the soft/medium tyre thing would have played out.

Is that how they get around penalizing him for the shirt?

Arguably it’s the first race where that’s happened, since Hamilton did not single handedly take out Max at Silverstone. He helped take himself out.

Today really was just massively unfortunate for RBR. If not for the events of the last two weeks, I'd have some sympathy.

I really wanted to see how the soft/medium tyre would have played out too.

Disagree with Justjazz about missing out on Ham/Ver today for the same reason you said - Alonso.

That battle between Alonso and Lewis was epic. Alonso right on the line of fair racing (the correct side of the line) and was putting on a masterclass in defensive driving against a car 2s per lap faster driven by an all time great and rival. Just look at how Lewis breezed past Sainz. I love Lewis and always want him to win, but don't feel hard done by when he is denied by brilliance like Alonso showed today. Ocon owes Alonso many many beers!!

Today just seemed like karma in action. Hamilton's penalty got a little increase to please them and Red Bull got knocked out for their response.

A chaotic race like today’s is very entertaining and throws up some unusual winners and battles we wouldn’t have seen, but they do distort the championship.
