I heard that somewhere as well. And they should be applauded for it too, a great initiative.

I'm not sure that the views of Man Utd fans are of much relevance though. What it takes to be a good player for Utd is very different to what it takes to be a good player for Southampton.

With that in mind, together with the fact that I think judging a defender's ability is very difficult without seeing them live on a regular basis, I don't have an answer to your question. I trust Ralph though. But equally, not having my own answer means that I'm not going to think of it as a missed opportunity if we refuse to accept Utd's wage and loan fee demands.

ManU `fans` would be delighted with him if he cost £50million and had a foreign name.

Names are getting complicated these days. Man Utd have an Englishman called Sancho, and a Brazilian named Fred.

Got to take what fans say with a pinch of salt. Spurs fans thought KWP was terrible and think they pulled a fast one on us, and yet he's easily been one of our best buys in recent years.

On the 15 year old. £1.5m is huge! And a nice bonus for us considering our money troubles. He must be highly regarded as a future star so a shame we have lost him, but not much we can do really.

And he is better than any right back spurs fielded last season

I wonder if the 1.5m is upfront. I assume not

Scandinavians-with-French-names fun fact: every Swedish monarch for two centuries descends from a guy named Jean Bernadotte that they gave the crown for no particular reason. All of the Norwegian kings are also his descendants, but not considered part of his house.

Likely not as much as we value him at

I wonder if most of the money goes on Bailey and Abraham?

If JWP wants to leave and we get the right offer (excess of £60m) then I think we would wish him luck. But not Villa. I cannot possibly see how JWP would see that as a step up - especially after Grealish goes to City. If he ever goes (and I don't think it will be this year) it will be to somewhere like City or Liverpool.

That was my immediate thought sadly…. Although it’s no dead cert that JG wants to leave… if it happens, it’s going to be painful…. If it was anyone else other JWP, and Villa got £100 million ish…. I’d take them to the cleaners…!!… going to be a long few weeks until the window shuts….

Villa can piss off. Interesting to see what happens with Kane if Grealish goes to City. Doubt they could afford them both
