    Former England footballer Wayne Rooney has reported a range of photos taken of him to police, his lawyers have said.

    The photos, which were shared widely on social media, appear to show the Derby County manager asleep in a chair with unknown women posing beside him.

    It is not known when the images were taken and there is no suggestion Rooney has behaved in any way inappropriately.

    The ex-Manchester United star's representatives confirmed the matter had been reported to police.

    His lawyers have declined to comment on the nature of the images.

    A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said the force was so far "not aware" the matter had been reported.

    The police say nobody contacted them. It was in the BBC report I pasted above.

    A complaint of blackmail in relation to photographs of Wayne Rooney has been dropped by police.

    Cheshire Police received a complaint on Monday after images, which were shared widely online, appeared to show the ex-England footballer asleep in a chair with unknown women posing beside him.

    Officers said they were satisfied that no offences had taken place.

    The Derby County manager said he did not wish to take the matter any further, the force added.

    Rooney's representatives have previously declined to comment on the nature of the images.

    They would have been threatening to “tell all”
    I imagine. his lawyers have nipped it in the bud.
    I like Rooney think he’s a proper football man. But he doesn’t half leave himself wide open.
