Please show me exactly where I have mentioned washing our hands, if anything I am far more understanding of why it's happening than others in this debate. The problem is because of the liberal use of our taxes by parasite human rights lawyers, there is absolutely zero chance of properly processing and removing the undesirables, because they are well lawyered up when they arrive, that is the problem.

Two of the Rochdale grooming gang were illegal immigrants when they carried out their vile crimes, FFS we cannot even send them back to Pakistan without an expensive human rights case that is ongoing as we speak, not holding my breath on a successful outcome.

In Bristol over the past 10 years there is a Zimbawe man and woman and their 10 kids living in a mansion on a huge amount of benefits, the man and woman both have aids and are being treated. He was outed as being one of Mugabe's torturers and implicated in up to 500 tortures/murders, but apparently he has human rights and cannot be deported.

Hang about Jiffie - you're falling into a pedantics trap here. Read what I said again. I never attempted to discuss French politics as I have very little knowledge of it - certainly much less than you seem to extol.

I said that the opinion of many of the populace over there regarding immigrants was "Le Pen leaning" - in other words "Farage leaning" - get it? I didn't say they'd vote for them, just that their thinking on this particular subject coincided. That's a far cry from voting them into power.

It's about individual's feelings, nothing to do with governing the country - a country in which I have very little interest, and regarding its' occupants, even less affection.

I know what you are saying and I am saying IMHO you are wrong, the French people are not Le Pen leaning, the French are happy when there is no problems and when problems do occur like the Bataclan or riots involving illegals, they expect their government to act with an iron fist, quickly and decisively and if the problem persists they expect their government to bring in new laws to

I think too many Brits because of the way France voted over firstly religious symbols in schools and the burkha believe that was driven by racism, which is wrong, which may well be why you hold your view about the French and Le Pen.

Religious symbols in schools was firstly across the board including crucifixes, turbans, Jewish skull caps the whole lot. It was brought to the attention of the French government by the teaching profession because they feared that in big city schools ethnic French children were being marginalised in classes where they were the overwhelming minority. I think the vote was 85% in favour and a similar amount of the French population agreed with. As for the Burkha it was again championed by the teaching profession and female rights groups as not being consistent with the French constitution and demeaning to women, no other reason.

I must admit that I do not have an in-depth knowledge of French politics. But from afar my impression is that France has a sizeable far-right group.

This may be just because of the UK TV coverage - but the fact I know who Le Pen is (and her father), but do not know far-right leaders in other EU countries, possibly makes me think that?

It is no more sizeable than any other European country especially Germany and nowhere close to the former Soviet block countries now in the EU especially Hungary and Poland.

    Yes
We allow people like Marcus Rashford to do the job of local councils and central Government to ensure that British children don't go hungry, which in itself is shameful ! Yet we are not pushing back hard enough on these free loaders that cost us tens of millions to support whether they eventually stay or go.
And then what will happen when vast swathes of land in West and North Africa, Syria, Afghanistan, Iran etc are virtually empty ? They will then be occupied by terrorist groups like Boko Haram or ISIS and it will start new wars, famine and yet more human suffering.

"Pikey Rob" <laugh> I can assure you if there was an influx of weirdo's in boats coming from your side of the bridge I'd definitely be pro-land mine :emoticon-0105-wink:. Nah arguments-wise I just can't be arsed most of the time now to be honest. I just drop in occasionally.

Like most things I don't really know enough about it, if people are coming here rather than staying in France/other EU nations then that obviously needs to be stopped, or we need to take our fair share.

But this idea that they're all chancers that want the 'land of milk and honey' is bollocks. You don't risk your life (the amount of them that die is awful) unless you're running away from something pretty ****. We need to have a bit of humanity - it makes me wonder how bad life must be at home for them to be doing this. And anyone who does the slightest bit of actual research will see that the free housing free food free money thing is bullshit. Just l

The RNLI are absolute stars. And it's worth pointing out that prior to Brexit, we had the right to send any migrants seeking asylum back to France if they could not have claimed it there. The government could and should have used that. Unless I'm mistaken (and I could be), now we're not part of the EU, we no longer can. The whole idea that Brexit allowed us to take control of our borders was bullshit (which I said many, many times), and this is yet another protection lost to us.

I'm not saying let them all in by the way, obviously not. But these are still people. They have kids and parents. They're not complete scum if they're desperate. It wasn't that long ago that we all were devastated at that photo of the kid being washed up on a beach.

    The Government website says :

Migrants are given somewhere to live, a flat, house, hostel, b&b.
Free health care, eyesight, dental etc
£40 per person a week in each household.
Pregnant mothers or with children under 6 weeks get £250.
Other stuff listed as well, but like you say I may be mistaken, check it out.

Doesn't seem, as you say, bull ****.

I fully agree with the first highlighted portion, it is spot on.

The 2nd highlighted portion needs clarity. The United Nations charter for asylum seekers basically says that people fleeing war, persecution etc. should apply at the first 'safe haven border' that they cross. So explain why people are putting themselves in far greater danger by crossing multiple borders and then one of the busiest sea lanes in the world with the sole objective of only wanting to come to the UK?. It was the question that the mayor of Sangat asked nearly 20 years ago when the UK demanded the closure of that camp and it was a fair question then as it is now, there has to be a reason and it would appear that whatever that reason is it still exists today.

and all that x 8,000 just in June 2021. Not sure how much the actual housing, extra policing, extra immigration staff, food etc etc costs but it will be millions per month for all people currently being held awaiting a decision.
Money that would be better spent elsewhere. That's without the local population of Dover being over-run 3 to 1 in favour of migrants.

Tell your imaginary friend, I support anybody who comes to the UK with the intention of actually making a better life for themselves and their families.

What I find strange is and I will ask the question once more and maybe somebody will actually answer it for a change. What is the reason that these asylum seekers that are crossing the dangerous English channel having already crossed multiple borders obviously only wanting to come to the UK, there has to be a reason that they shun all of the 'nice' EU countries whose borders that they crossed to come to the UK, I doubt that it's for the climate.
