Don’t quite understand the governments 500 quid to help low incomes while isolating ….. my wife is on minimum wage and had too isolate this week and doesn’t get paid when not working …… she applied and was rejected because we don’t claim any housing benefit or any other benefit . I cannot get my head round that as those people will still get those benefits . Where is the incentive for low income people too isolate with a mortgage?
It’s ****e Hull City Council were paying a similar thing though with less hoops, unless it was them you applied to?
East Riding council … genuinely don’t get it ; not having a pop at people on benefits , but they are going to get that benefit still . We get **** all , I don’t earn a fortune and we live pretty much one pay packet to the next , going to be bit of a struggle this month
It is appalling. some EU countries have been, I think, paying a high % of your normal salary or even full salary. You shouldn’t be penalised for following Govt rules designed to keep others safe
UK cases fall for fourth day in a row as country records 31,795 new infections. 43,153 more people in the UK have received their first COVID-19 vaccine, taking the total number of adults to have received one jab to 46,519,998. Another 191,045 people had their second dose, bringing the total number of double jabbed adults to 36,953,691.
Don't cases always come down in the summer though? At least that's what we were told last year so everyone went a bit bananas and then we had the second lockdown.
I thought that, but I saw a tweet with a graph a couple of days ago, showing cases were down across all age groups.
Hard to gauge how much is down to the weather and how much is down to vaccinations, but it's encouraging considering we've just opened everything back up.
