I'm just in awe that a football club, which has a team of lawyers, didn't fully understand the terms and conditions of a loan/grant before taking it. Average working-class people take mortgages out on houses and know the terms before signing but we didn't know that outgoing loans counted towards the 25-man squad limit? I knew that when it was announced we took the loan/grant cause it said so on the EFL website.

Best-run club in the country though.

Darnborough is an employee - he does as he's told is my guess.

It's shocking from top to bottom...if the legal team didn't flag it up then they need sacking! But the more probable reason for it is they where ignored!

The past had shown us, on a legal front the allams have a top notch team

I'm not going to post names in that department, but I'm sure if you dig online you'll find it. They are very good though and don't often lose/get things wrong..

Legal team would only look at it if they were asked by Darnborough or Ehab.

If its not a head of recruitment's job to know the restrctions he's recruiting under then WTF actually is his job?

Surely a phone call or email to the EFL would havw clarified it? Cheaper than consulting lawyers surely?

Are we to assume that every other club who paid back the loan whoo could have kept it because it was 'good business and why wouldn't you' arf arf... actually read the small print and understood it..

Hmmm possibly, Id find it hard to believe any legal team worth its salt wouldn't be involved and know. If they where ignored/not asked or anything along those lines then I wouldn't be surprised to see them leave... Reputation is everything in the legal world and this makes them look a little daft ( however it's happened )

The only thing we can be certain of so far is this is an absolute cluster **** by the club

Dont see why a legal team would be involved unless we were actually disputing the restrictions. A quick call to the EFL would have clarified them.

All completely irrelevant to my point that the club should understand the rules and either doesn’t or has consciously chosen to directly negatively impact the team

A good legal team knows everything that goes on within the business and would not work within a business that makes them look foolish. Going on what I know about the set up within our club, they will have known. Just look at how clued up they have been previously on what they can & can't do, how far they can Push things etc... The arena for example, the away fan money etc...

Do I say it was Ehab’s job to read the rules? I didn’t even mention him in the post you replied to

I think they are genuinely suprised that the loans out count in the squad. Someone should have clarified it with the EFL before now. Totally agree its a shambles.

They’re genuinely surprised because one of a few things probably happened (or a combination)
    Some possibilities
    a) They didn’t bother reading/asking someone to actually read the rules, possibly because they were too busy focussing on potential free money
    b) They did understand the rules and didn’t bother to tell head of recruitment or Grant (in which case it’s them surprised)

But surely, if you are employing a 'head of recruitment' as opposed to a chief scout, and he's responsible for contracts - then he should be able to read some t&c's and seek clarification on anything that requires it?

    I’d have him here

Dan Crowley has been spotted playing on trial with Doncaster Rovers as he looks to secure a move ahead of the new season.

The midfielder is searching for a new club this summer after being released by Birmingham City, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City and helping the Tigers to the League One title.
City were understood to be initially keen on securing a deal for the former Arsenal youngster, but have moved on to other targets since.
