I am a season ticket holder and registered member of SAFC. Each year I buy a Celtic callander for her in doors, its her team, from Celtics on line store. Today I got sweet FA from Sunderland but an email from Celtic fc wishing me a happy birthday and giving me a £5.00 voucher for my next buy. Yes its marketing, yes its computer generated but why do I feel Celtic care more about me and value me more for my £12.00 purchase each year that Sunderland do for my £500+ Sort of sums it up right now.
Don't take it too personally mate, maybe quinny just forgot your birthday, and I'm sure if you go to the club shop and explain the great tradgedy, they might offer you a voucher?
I'm sorry to hear about this, Syd. Surprised? - not really after the response the SAFC in Africa lads got. But sorry anyway. I'm afraid you're right, about it summing things up right now. I feel exactly the same way. I've supported/followed SAFC since 1948 - Wiilie Watson, Ivor Broadis, Travor Ford, Johnny Mapson, and the new boy, Shackleton - yet, right now, I feel absolutely nothing for them. I was disgusted that they kept Bruce last May. But the real turning point for me was the Gyan affair. The SAFC web-site said he was still a Sunderland player but it was best all round that he went out on loan for a year. A week later, Quinn is offering him 'an olive branch' ... for what, if it was best all round? Then Bruce announced that he couldn't see how Gyan could ever return! Who do I believe? - the web-site actually, because it tallies perfectly with what Gyan was saying. That lad has never once bad-mouthed this club, Short or Quinn, and he only fell out with Bruce after Bruce told the press he went for greed. A decent agreement between SAFC, Al-Ain and Gyan sounds right from what I've heard from all parties. Which means Quinn and Bruce are telling us porkies. I'm a big Quinn fan, and that came as a shock. For the first time, I started to wonder if I could believe anything that comes out of that club right now. And then Short - a born winner, if ever there was one - announces that he's perfectly happy with recent results! Six points out of twenty-four wouldn't have got you your £1.2 billion, Ellis. Again, I find it hard to believe. So now I believe nothing. I don't think they give a sh*t for us, other than as cash-cows. I don't have your e-mail address, Syd. But take this as my birthday e-mail, will you? Happy birthday to you.
They've got your money syd why would they give a toss? or maybe they are far more concerned with the global image of SAFC to care about the fans who have supported them for years and are still supporting them.
I'm filling up, some ****ing birthday this is turning out to be, only need Osca to have a head ache now....
maybe you're right, Charley. But if Syd feels let down and betrayed, I wanted him to know he's not alone. I feel sick as a god-damned parrot right now.
well stop it, its not worth it mate, my view now is I never want to worry about them more than they worry about me. Life is good and dont let the bastards get you down.
I got a nice message from some **** called Cypressydsafc telling me to take Sunderland to beat Arsenal. That was ****e too marra.
happy birthaday syd and many more of them. I once got a signed birthday card off super kevin phillips ( thanks to my sister in law) so I think we should keep things in perspective. The way things are going some people will be blaming the club for rising gas prices.
