A few first team players are out injured already, including Honeyman (who'll miss several weeks at the start of the season) and apparently Tom will appear for us tomorrow (in the Scunthorpe game).
Grant McCann has confirmed that a number of first-team players will be unavailable for tomorrow’s pre-season friendlies against Mansfield and Scunthorpe. Midfielder George Honeyman is set to miss the opening weeks of the Championship season with an ankle injury. The 26-year-old, who required pain-killing injections to play on occasions last season, has undergone an operation and is expected to be back in September. McCann explained: “George came back raring to go in pre-season but, unfortunately, his ankle was not right. We managed to get George an operation but he’ll probably miss the first six or seven games. It’s not great news because he’s such an influential player, but it was important we got the operation done so he didn’t have a relapse during the season.” Left-back Callum Elder and forward Mallik Wilks will not be risked this weekend. The duo have thigh and hamstring problems respectively and will be left out as a precautionary measure. Young goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright will also be absent as he continues his period of self-isolation after testing positive for Covid-19. The Club wishes him a speedy recovery.
Would love to see him playing for us once again on a (very!) sensible deal. Was thinking earlier today about last time he was with us. What a team and squad we had in the CCC. And we moaned even then.
Would be pleasing if Tom H showed he can still cut it tomorrow and then get some kind of deal with us. We are conspicuously short of 2nd tier experience
Wasn't it mooted that TH could be made into a CB at one point... or when we were 'light' on numbers did he fill in there.... as has been said a coaching/ play when needed role might be great for all concerned...
Would be an asset to the club. Skills in midfield are not easy to find (of course at the right price) but for me couldn’t be bettered.
This! On Sky last night, they were doing classic PL years & it was 13/14, not much City, but they did show the 3-1 v Liverpool . Then afterwards, they showed Bale goals for Spurs, who was setting him up, only Tom H, as I watched, I was thinking, it would be nice to see him play for us again. Could it be?
